A significant shift occurred in 1970 when Ray V. Pierce and a group of shareholders purchased Frontier Galvanizing. Ray recognized the limitations of the Austin Street location and envisioned a company capable of delivering advanced services at a much larger scale. Soon after the acquisition, the business relocated to the former General Drop Forge Corp. foundry at 1740 Elmwood Avenue. This move provided increased floor space, a more efficient workflow, and the foundational capacity needed to support the region's growing demands.

Ray was later joined by his brother, Lewis G. Pierce. Together, they launched a series of strategic land acquisitions that expanded indoor production areas and outdoor laydown capacity. These improvements enabled Frontier to handle larger steel assemblies, accommodate higher-volume orders, and manage multiple large projects simultaneously. As the company’s capabilities expanded, so did its client base, which grew to include state Departments of Transportation, major utilities, energy providers, and large infrastructure contractors. The company’s workforce eventually reached about 40 full-time employees, reflecting its significant operational growth.
