Age Will Not Define Me

My 50's were not something that I was looking forward to. I couldn't wait to get to my 20's when I was younger. My 30's and 40's were when I raised my family and established my career. Now all my kids are grown, I'm investing in an IRA, taking all kinds of vitamins and over-the-counter medication, and am receiving mail from AARP. Although there are many days where I feel my age (e.g., aches and pains, the need to stretch when I get out of bed, feeling much more the effects of eating and drinking bad the next morning), I generally don't see myself as old as my birth certificate conveys.

I was born June 9, 1969. I tend to be the oldest person in my social group. Something my friends love to point out. I divorced in my late 40's and am still single. In fact, I've pretty much avoided the dating scene almost all together. It just isn't a priority for me where I'm at in life. It is difficult dating people who have already raised their kids or are still in the process. It's a huge commitment one way or another.

Around every birthday I begin running and working out again. I tend to follow a pretty good routine throughout the summer, but once the school year begins (I'm a middle school teacher) I tend to waver and eventually stop altogether once winter is on the calendar.

Watching a lot of movies this down-time during Covid 19 I began to realize that many of the big blockbusters were lead by men who are all older than me. I decided to make a short list of those iconic leading figures and found that it never seemed to end. So I decided to create a list of 50 famous leading men over the age of 50 that at one time or another I wished I could be, was compared to (good or bad), or that many of my past relationships were infatuated with. This list includes men who just turned 50 to men up into their late 70's. These men are some of the biggest movie stars, musicians, athletes, and media hosts still active and in the limelight today. I don't feel so old now as almost all of these men are older than me. Crazy.

So if I was one of these men and I was out on the celebrity dating scene I would probably be hanging around just as famous women my own age. Now if I were these men I could probably date someone half my age, but to keep it real I made a list of famous leading women who are at least in their mid-forties on up. Each of these women I find absolutely beautiful. Some I had a huge star-crush on when I was a kid and some I star-crush on today. Each of these women are still successful today. I will have to commit to getting myself into great shape and earn some serious coin to get into this dating scene. LOL I don't think my middle school teaching job is going to quite cut it.
