Planned Parenthood offers testing that may cost money depending on your insurance. Testing does not need to cost money. Numerous centers around New Jersey offer free HIV and STD testing.

If you are interested in helping out the community besides just practicing safe sex, there are numerous community centers that need volunteers to stay afloat. The amount of sites one can participate at is not limited to this list.
There are numerous books one can read about the HIV epidemic, both non-fiction and fiction. A lot of the material you will likely find is about the past. It is with this that I hope there will be more written about current politics and conditions related to HIV/AIDS in the US.

There are many documentaries, movies, plays, and music one can find that is related to the HIV epidemic. There is a lot of non-fiction, but there is just as much fiction that was written at the height of the pandemic, as well as some today.
