More about the maker-
Inspired by nature and made ‘From the Hart’
I am a local Devon girl, born and bred in Hartland. I was lucky. My childhood was spent either up a tree, in a muddy stream or rock pooling on the beach. As time developed I had a real passion for creating, which was encouraged by my parents.
After secondary school, I specialised in Fashion and Textiles on my Art and Design course, at what was then North Devon College. I continued my studies in Crafts in North Wales and then in Brighton, with a focus on Silversmithing .
My passion for coastal living and nature drew me back to North Devon, where I had my two children. I continued my studies by completing my PGCE which enabled me to work at my old place of study, now Petroc. As my family has grown up, I have had more freedom to develop my own work.
As a keen beachcomber I am always amazed by the variety of layers, textures, colours and the history imprinted with-in; this inspires my designs. Working from my workshop/spare room in Hartland, I use metal clay, sheet silver and more recently Devon seaglass, to create each piece individually so no two pieces are identical.
