A website for Flat Rock Middle School families.

About the Flat Rock PTO

Get involved with the Flat Rock PTO today and know your student and the school's faculty will have the advantage of parents that are willing to help them succeed. Even in middle school, parents still play an important role.

Research from Harvard University’s Family Research Project indicates "that the children of involved parents tend to do better in school across a number of measures, including a higher overall GPA, better scores on standardized tests, and an increased likelihood of enrolling in college. Engaged parents can also reduce the effects of negative peer pressure that often push kids to become unmotivated in school. Even though students may roll their eyes about moms helping at school, parents can be reassured that their involvement has long-lasting positive effects on their children’s academic motivation and performance."

The Flat Rock PTO is your link to ensuring the students and faculty have the assistance and resources they need to succeed. Get involved in the Flat Rock PTO.

Our One Big Annual Fundraiser

Knowing that everyone is busy and that having a middle schooler probably means you also support your students extra curricular activities, the PTO decided several years ago to only hold one fundraiser. With the money raised the PTO has been able to fund the purchase of a new digital sign for the school, benches for around the building, and grants for teachers.

Our 2022 fundraiser, Game On will launch August 15th! Please click here to sign-up and support our school https://app.pop4kids.org/flatrockms30290 to help earn funding for :

  • Physical Education Equipment

  • Shade structures for the Food Forest (schoolwide garden program)

  • Fence for Food Forest

  • Outdoor Classroom seating and activity areas for all grade levels

Double your donation: if your company participates in a matching gift program please submit your Game ON donation receipt to that program to double your contribution to our PTO. The matching funds will go directly to PTO and be considered a parent donation vs Game ON fundraiser directly. Funds will be used to support PTO initiatives for the entire school. Contact name to submit donation to: PTO Treasurer, Sharon Douglas Email: sddouglas1234@gmail.com, EIN#58-2216869

So what is Game On?

GAME ON! is our fitness-based fundraiser, developed to fit the needs of school physical education departments! Focusing on all the awesome things students can do with a healthy mind and body, GAME ON! helps strengthen the connection between fitness and fun! Plus, it allows P.E. departments to raise funds not only for equipment and supplies, but also to continue to fund the causes and charities that matter the most to their school and community. GAME ON! includes health and wellness materials, individual and team prizes, and tons of high quality PE Equipment….including some official American Ninja Warrior items!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!

As a mom of rising 7th and 9th graders, I absolutely love our school and all it stands for and I am honored to serve as your PTO President. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Flat Rock PTO family. Our PTO has no membership fee! Our organization consists of parents and teachers working together to support and enrich all students. We support school staff, help promote student self-esteem, partner with feeder pattern schools on community initiatives, and assist in efforts to solve school needs through volunteering, funding and fun events! To meet these important objectives, we fundraise. Here are a few programs that we have supported in the past: POP Fundraiser/One Big Fundraiser, Book Fairs, Teacher Appreciation Week, Teacher Classroom grants, Reading Celebration, PBIS Celebration and various other fundraisers throughout the year.

The main way to help us achieve our goals for this year is to become involved in our school through our PTO! There are no membership fees. All parents, guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles and extended and family members are welcome. By volunteering with the PTO, you’ll be able to connect with other families who share the same desire to make our learners’ experience a more robust and enjoyable one. To become part of our volunteers, please reach out to Mashama Wilson or Ikia Willis our volunteer coordinators at frmsvolunteers@gmail.com Your support allows us to enhance each child’s experience here at FRMS and we would love for you to be part of our success!

We are always looking for sponsorships from local businesses that believe in our mission. If you have a local business and want to be part of our family, please reach out to our Treasurer, Sharon Douglas at frmsptotreasurer@gmail.com .

Please join us on August 10th at 6:30PM to learn more about the PTO and how we can utilize your talents to support our students, teachers and staff. Always remember Eagles Rock!

Thank you for all you do and welcome to Flat Rock Middle School PTO.

Respectfully yours,

Mrs. Andrea Ferguson
