This Privacy Policy describes how FriMap: Real‑time GPS (“FriMap”, “the App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) handles your information when you download, install, or use our application.
FriMap is a private, consent‑based real‑time GPS sharing tool designed for families, friends, and other trusted groups. It enables features such as live location sharing, virtual boundary alerts, location history playback, and instant SOS messaging.
No account is required to use FriMap. Therefore, most information we collect is linked to your device identifier rather than a personal profile.
By installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, please refrain from using FriMap.
Location information is essential for FriMap to work.
With your explicit permission (granted through your device’s operating system), we may access:
Precise GPS coordinates (satellite‑based)
Approximate location (from Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular networks)
Network‑based positioning (cell tower triangulation, IP geolocation)
To enable continuous real‑time updates, geofence monitoring, and SOS alerts, FriMap may continue to collect location data in the background (even when the screen is off or the App is minimised), subject to your device permissions.
You can revoke location access at any time via your system settings. However, doing so may disable most core features.
Your location is never made public or searchable. It is shared only with the specific individuals you have authorised within your private circles.
We automatically collect certain technical data to ensure compatibility and security:
Device make and model
Operating system version and build
Unique device identifiers (e.g., IDFV on iOS, Android ID)
Language and regional settings
Time zone
IP address (for network communication)
Network type (Wi‑Fi, cellular, etc.)
You may voluntarily enter custom labels, such as:
Names of family members or groups
Geofence names (e.g., “Home”, “School”)
Personal nicknames or avatars
This content is stored locally and/or on our servers solely to personalise your experience.
When you trigger the SOS feature, the App captures:
Your current location (latitude/longitude)
Timestamp of the alert
Optional message if you add one
This information is sent to your selected emergency contacts or group members to help them locate you.
We collect anonymous statistics about:
Which features you use most frequently
App performance metrics (loading time, response speed)
Crash logs and error reports
Diagnostic data to fix bugs and improve stability
This helps us enhance reliability and user experience over time.
FriMap only shares location with individuals who have mutually agreed to participate. Every user must grant permissions on their own device and explicitly join a sharing circle.
You are responsible for ensuring that all persons whose location is shared via FriMap have given their informed, voluntary consent. The App is not to be used for covert tracking or surveillance without explicit knowledge and approval.
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
To display your real‑time position on maps for authorised viewers
To send geofence entry/exit notifications
To deliver SOS alerts with location attachments
To maintain a temporary location history for your reference
To troubleshoot technical issues and optimise performance
To detect and prevent misuse or fraudulent activity
To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your location or personal data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial marketing.
We share your information only in these specific scenarios:
Your live location and history are visible only to those you have added to your private sharing circles.
No one outside your selected groups can see your data.
When you activate SOS, your current location and timestamp are shared with your pre‑designated contacts.
These contacts may also receive push notifications about the alert.
We engage third‑party vendors to help operate the App (e.g., cloud hosting, map rendering, push notifications).
These providers process data only on our behalf and under strict contractual obligations – they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to:
Comply with a court order, subpoena, or government request;
Protect the rights, property, or safety of FriMap, our users, or others;
Prevent fraud or security incidents.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or license your personal information – including precise location – to any third party.
We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
We do not use location data for targeted advertising.
Since FriMap does not require user accounts, your data is primarily associated with your device’s unique identifier. If you uninstall the App, reset your device, or lose access to it, we cannot recover your settings or history.
Some data resides locally on your device.
Other data is stored on our secure servers, which are located in the People’s Republic of China.
By using FriMap, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in China, where data protection laws may differ from those in your home country.
Location history is automatically retained for up to 30 days, unless you manually delete it earlier via the App’s settings.
SOS records may be kept for a limited time (typically up to 90 days) for security audits, abuse investigation, and legal compliance.
After retention periods expire, or upon your deletion request, data is permanently erased from active servers. Backup copies may persist temporarily until overwritten.
You can delete your location history and group information at any time using in‑App controls.
Deleting the App from your device removes locally stored data.
For server‑side data, we will honour deletion requests where technically feasible and not barred by legal retention requirements.
You may grant or revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.
Revoking access will limit or disable location‑based features, but you can still use non‑location parts of the App (if any).
You can stop sharing your location by leaving a group, turning off background location, or simply uninstalling the App.
Because we do not maintain accounts, we cannot easily associate multiple data points with a single individual. However, you can delete your own data directly from the App.
If you need assistance, contact us and we will do our best to help, provided you can verify your device identity.
If you are a California resident, you may have the right to:
Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect.
Request deletion of your personal information.
Opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” for cross‑context behavioural advertising (though we do not engage in such activities).
To exercise these rights, please contact us using the email below. Please note that because we lack account‑based authentication, we may ask for additional verification information to confirm your device ownership.
You may withdraw your consent to our processing at any time by ceasing use of the App and deleting it from your device. Once you do so, we will stop collecting new data, and we will delete existing data in accordance with our retention and deletion practices.
FriMap is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) without parental supervision.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we learn that we have inadvertently received such data, we will take prompt steps to delete it.
Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to us should reach out via the contact details below, and we will assist in reviewing and removing the data.
We employ reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including:
TLS/SSL encryption for data in transit
Access controls to limit internal staff access to data
Regular security reviews of our systems
Anonymisation of certain usage statistics where feasible
However, no security system is impenetrable. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security against all threats – you use the App at your own risk.
FriMap integrates with external platforms to provide its features. Key third parties include:
Mapping Services – We use a map provider (e.g., Google Maps or similar) to render maps and location pins. Your use of these map features is subject to the map provider’s own terms and privacy policy.
Cloud Hosting – We utilise cloud infrastructure providers to store and synchronise data. These providers act as data processors and are bound by our instructions.
Push Notification Services – To deliver alerts, we rely on platform‑specific notification systems (e.g., Firebase Cloud Messaging, APNs). These services may process limited data for the sole purpose of delivering notifications.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third‑party providers, as we are not responsible for their practices.
Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your own, including the People’s Republic of China.
We ensure that any such transfer is carried out in compliance with applicable data protection laws. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data.
By using FriMap, you consent to these international data transfers.
FriMap is built for legitimate, consensual family and friend tracking. It must never be used for:
Stalking, harassment, or intimidation
Coercive monitoring or domestic abuse
Unlawful surveillance of any person
Users are solely responsible for ensuring that their use of the App complies with all local laws and regulations. Any misuse may result in immediate suspension and referral to law enforcement.
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or our practices.
When we make material changes, we will notify you through:
An in‑App notification or alert
A prominent update notice on our website or within the App
A request for your acknowledgment (if required by law)
Your continued use of FriMap after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the App and delete it from your device.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data handling practices, please reach out to us at:
Email: lijing10004@outlook.com
We will respond to your inquiry as soon as reasonably possible, typically within a reasonable timeframe.
