The FOCUS Committee
The FOCUS committee is elected at the beginning of each school year (in October), but every parent/carer is already a member of FOCUS. FOCUS committee members are volunteers, and together with the school, FOCUS organises events for the children, as well as for parents, carers and the UCPS team. The primary aim of FOCUS is to raise vital funds for the school’s on-going development, and bring our community together through events and activities.
FOCUS works closely with the school team and is committed to raising money to fund projects, such as adding to the library’s resources, purchasing playground equipment and developing the arts and drama experience at UCPS.
The work of the FOCUS committee is about much more than fundraising. FOCUS exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring parents and carers, the UCPS team, and local community together socially in support of the school and its children. Community building fosters inclusion and a true sense of belonging.
Safeguarding is paramount to all that we do at UCPS. Therefore, it is important that all school events are scheduled and carefully planned in order to safeguard children. All FOCUS Committee member and Year Group Representatives must attend safeguarding training and have a full DBS check. The school will organise this should you wish to become a FOCUS Committee member. All FOCUS events will be advertised in the school newsletters and on the UCPS website.
Get Involved!
FOCUS is a fun-loving group of parents and carers, who come from diverse backgrounds and possess a wide range of skills. Together we plan some great events – and help create wonderful memories for our children and the wider school community. Everyone is welcome! We work with the following values as our code of conduct: be kind, respectful, honest, bold, courageous and thankful.
Committee meetings are open to everyone and it's a great way to get to know other parents. Please see the FOCUS newsletter for information on upcoming meetings and events.
