What is Friends of Toongabbie Creek all about?

How it started

It started with a conversation... Julz and Beck connected over a shared passion for their local patch of nature; the green corridors of bushland along Toongabbie Creek. We are both concerned about the state of our environment and wanted to find a way to connect all the awesome people and activities that are happening near us. In short, we want to help make Toongabbie Creek a healthy ecosystem, a place for our native flora and fauna to thrive and for us humans to appreciate and connect with the natural beauty of this natural resource.

Where is it heading?

While it is still early days for the Friends of Toongabbie Creek we have seen a community of like-minded people who bring a variety of interests, skills and knowledge joining our group. We are a place to share local activities and raise issues that are affecting the health of the creek and surrounding environment. While we are a happy group of volunteers, we are doing a little bit of everything. We are working on consolidating our group structures as we are starting to grow our member base, and connecting with other organisations, such as local councils (Parramatta, Blacktown, Cumberland and Hills), Parramatta River Catchment Group, Plastic Pluckers, Landcare, Sydney Water, Streamwatch, ParraCAN, Parramatta Greens, and Toongabbie-Seven Hills Lions.
