Spring challenge 2022

Explore the Quiet Route from the Meadows to Greenbank by taking part in our Spring treasure hunt. Walk, wheel and cycle through the streets following the treasure hunt map and find out more about the history of the area.

The fun and games are suitable for children of any age, with adult supervision.

How does the treasure hunt work?

  • Scroll down to find the map, clues and parents "crib" sheet for the treasure hunt. You can download copies to print them, or access them on this site.

  • Complete the treasure hunt at any time this Spring, however if you complete the treasure hunt between 19th March - 20th April and email us your answer sheet (friendsquietroute@gmail.com) then you will be entered into our prize draw for vouchers for Edinburgh Bike Co-op.

  • The route is designed to be completed in one morning / afternoon, but it's okay if it takes you longer / multiple "go's".

  • The prize draw will take place in early April.

treasure hunt CLUES, MAP AND CRIB SHEET

The treasure hunt will follow a circular route just under 5 miles (8km) in total. The route is mainly uphill travelling South (towards Comiston) and mainly downhill travelling North (towards Meadows).

You may start at any of 5 stations along the route and complete them in any order. You may also complete different stations at different times - you don't have to complete the route in one day.

The stations are:

  1. Bruntsfield Links *

  3. The Hermitage of Braid *

  4. Comiston Spring House

  5. Braidburn Valley Park *

Access the Treasure Hunt clues on the left by clicking on the document. Once the document is open in a separate window, you can download and print a copy of the form. You can take the form with you and write down your answers on the day, or you can make notes separately when you are out and about, and type them up using the document later. Email your answer sheet back to us on friendsofthequietroute@gmail.com by 20th April to be entered into the prize draw.
