(Grade - Easy) Usually 2 to 5 days
We normally camp close to the cars somewhere along the river. We have a great social time, while continuing the work on Tree of Heaven, White Poplars and Common Fig along the river and creeks. Possible communal meal one night.
(Grade – Easy/Medium) 4 days
Basecamp at Newnes to check and treat, as time permits, serious weeds along the river and in the Newnes area generally, including Tree of Heaven, Cotoneaster, Honeysuckle, Common Fig, Photinia, and Hawthorn and continue our work on the White Poplars.
(Grade - Medium/Hard) 2 to 5 days
Keep Lantana and Moth Vine out of the wilderness! Walk the T3 track to the Colo River near Tootie Ck to search and destroy occasional Lantana and Moth Vine in the area, and check wildlife monitoring cameras. Come for just 2 days, or up to 4 or 5. Potential shared gourmet dinner one night. Weeding activities involve scrub and deep wades. Steep 500m descent and ascent on track.
(Grade - Medium/Hard) 2 to 4 days
Priorities for the weekend are to look for and treat any Lantana and treat as much Tobacco Bush and Moth Vine as possible. We'll keep chipping away at the infestation around Tobacco Ck. Potential shared gourmet dinner one night. Steep and rough 400m off-track descent and ascent. Base-camp on a sandbar. Weeding activities involve scrub. The river may need to be crossed; this involves wading, possibly deep.
(Grade – Medium/Hard) 3 days or occasional 1 day trip.
Packraft remote sections of the Colo River in the Colo Gorge to look for, record and treat weeds including Willow, Lantana, Gleditsia, Tree of Heaven, Tobacco Tree, Cape Ivy and Moth Vine. There is also a single day trip from Bob Turners track to Upper Colo Bridge to specifically look for and treat Black Willows. Exact trip details depend on weather & river levels. Whitewater awareness/packraft accreditation is essential, as is experience in multi-day off-track wilderness trips.
(Grade - Hard) Usually 4 days
The specific section will be dependent on water levels and could include Sewells Point - Horseshoe bend - Badgerys - Lake Yarrunga (Tallowa dam), treating Willows and Tree of Heaven. Whitewater awareness/packraft accreditation is essential, as is experience in multi-day off-track wilderness trips.
(Grade – Medium/Hard) 6 days
A 6-day wilderness walk starting from Coorongooba and down the Capertee River. We look for, record and treat Moth Vine, Tree of Heaven and Gleditsia on the Capertee River (downstream of the management trail). We mainly need to check for Moth Vine sites along this stretch of river. Weeding activities involve scrub and possible wades across the river. No major elevation to ascend/descend. Recent experience in multi-day off-track wilderness trips is essential.
(Grade – Medium/Hard) 3 to 7 days
A check for Cape Ivy, Willow, Honeysuckle and Tree of Heaven along the beautiful Wolgan River downstream from the ruins to the junction of the Colo River. The exact area to be surveyed will vary. The duration will depend on how remote the section of the river we are checking. Wading and rock hopping involved. Recent experience in multi-day off-track wilderness trips is essential.
(Grade - Hard) 7 days
A 7-day wilderness walk starting at Glen Davis or Newnes and down the Capertee or Wolgan Rivers and then the Colo River, finishing with a steep climb onto the Culoul Range. We look for, record and treat Willow, Tree of Heaven, Gleditsia and, most importantly, any new outbreaks of Moth Vine. No track; lots of wading and rock-hopping. Recent experience in multi-day off-track wilderness trips is essential. Proven competence in weed spotting is desirable.
