Kids Day at Peebles Island State Park

Date : April 18th 2026 (9:00am-12:00pm)
Place : Peebles Island State Park, 1 Delaware Ave. North, Cohoes, NY

Mark your calendars! Join us for our annual Kids Day on Peebles Island. Activities on our beautiful Island will be in the Visitor’s Center, the Pavilion, and on the grounds. A variety of nature crafts, a guided walk to a vernal pool and birdhouse building are part of the fun. There are also a self-guided Story walk and visits by local libraries. Fishing rod casting, and archery and kayak demonstrations will be provided by a local pro shop. Free fishing rods will be available.

All activities are open to the public and free (while supplies last). The event will be held rain or shine. Boots or old shoes are recommended. Kids Day is sponsored by the Friends of Peebles Island.

Peebles Island State Park

Peebles Island State Park will host volunteers as part of I Love My Park Day on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10am-2pm. Please register at the site below:

At the above site, click on the button “Register” and then on the map click on Peebles Island.

Our main project is the beautification of the picnic area planter beds by planting a beautiful selection of native plants and creating a planter bed area around a tree where current foot traffic is negatively impacting its health. We will also prep the picnic area for spring maintenance.

Kids are welcome to participate!

Dress for the weather, wear outdoor work boots and clothes that can get dirty. Please bring your garden gloves if you have them! Water will be available but bring a water bottle to refill and stay hydrated. Sunscreen and bug spray are also advised to have on hand.
