Guided Walking Tour of Quittie Creek Nature Park in Annville
As part of The Lebanon Valley Conservancy's Water Week here in Lebanon County, Friends of Old Annville President Michael Schroeder will lead what we hope will be a fascinating excursion into Annville's past along Quittie Creek. Bring your imagination as we try to envision past landscapes from the faint traces that survive today. Did you know what's now Quittie Creek Nature Park was an active limestone quarry and industrial zone for many years (ca. 1860s–1950s)? Or that from the 1930s to the 1960s, a family of five lived in a 2-story, 5-bedroom house next to Millard’s Concrete Mill & Factory, which once stood just upstream of what's now the Swingholm Pedestrian Bridge? Join us as we explore how Annville's history is intimately bound up with the flowing waters of Quittapahilla Creek and the landscape of what's now Quittie Creek Nature Park. Meet at 4:00 PM at the foot of Swingholm Bridge on Bachman Road off Rt. 422 on Annville's east side. Bring your own water. Closed-toe shoes and long pants are recommended. Free & open to the public. Register by filling out & submitting this simple Google form.
