Friends of Fleming – About Us
The Friends of Fleming is a non-profit group (est.2005) dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of historic Fleming Park. The land for this 95-acre public space, located on Halifax’s Northwest Arm, was donated by Sir Sandford Fleming to the City in 1908. In exchange for this generous donation, the City designed and built the Dingle Tower, an iconic structure in our City’s landscape.
Friends of Fleming Aim to:
- Support the Park through various volunteer work tasks
- Be a communication link between members and the City’s Parks and Recreation Department
- Protect the environmental integrity and ecosystems of the Park.
- Be the Park’s ‘eyes and ears’ looking for ways to protect and enhance the natural environment
