Taking Root at Friends Ministry

Our Friends Farm started small with just four acres of vegetables and berries in 1980.

Our Friends Farm program has since expanded to include a barter/labor program, Friends Ministry Farm Bucks, and our Friends Steer Project.

Our Barter/Labor Program

Need to pay a bill?

In exchange for your labor in the community garden, we can help you pay that bill.

Contracts are available for:

up to $300.00
per person
per garden season

The Bible tells us that work is a blessing.

Your donation provides an opportunity for participants in this program to work off a bill, learn new skills, build relationships, and learn how to work as part of a team.

Friends Steer Fundraiser

Our Friends Steer project helps us raise operating funds for our Friends Ministry community garden.

In the early spring, local farmers generously donate over forty calves to Friends Ministry, which we then are responsible for taking care of until the calves are sold at market in late October.

So where do you come in?

We need individuals, families or groups to sponsor a calf
- It costs $295.00 to feed one calf for the season
You can give a one-time gift or prorate your donation on a monthly basis
We would gladly consider donations of quality hay bales
We also need volunteers who can commit to 15 minutes once a week in the morning to feed grain and hay to the calves
