Magnolia

The southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) is native to the southeastern US. It is a very popular ornamental tree in California and in the world. The name "grandiflora" means "big flower" and its flower is big. Its waxy fragrant flowers are a delight to see and smell. The leaves are very stiff and have a felty orange brown underside. In its native habitat it grows near water and it needs water to grow well.
