Toulouse & Pyrenees

Exploring Toulouse and the Pyrenees is one of my favourite leisure activities. Here are photos of some of the most beautiful places that I have visited in my time in Toulouse.

  • The trail from Col de Jou to the Pic du Canigou with spectacular views over the eastern Pyrenees

  • Luchon - Superbagnères at sunrise and in the early morning - very easily in reach for a day trip from Toulouse.

  • The Lac d'Ilhéou and the view from the Pic de Nets

  • Mont Valier from a hike around the Tuc des Hèches

  • Even when seen from Toulouse, the Pyrenees make for a nice picture.

  • And Toulouse itself is also a very beautiful city with a long history. Through the ages it was an important commercial center in the Roman empire, the capital of the Wisigoth empire, home to one of the best universities of the middle ages and location of the last battle between France and England on french soil (Battle of Toulouse 1814). Toulouse is nicknamed "la ville rose" for the colour of the bricks that are used in many buildings around the city.
