The mission of the Fricke Episcopal Food Ministry is to serve others in the name of the Lord by providing food to families and individuals in need. We are a coalition comprised of representatives from seven Omaha-area Episcopal churches, who work collaboratively with other agencies in the Omaha metro area to distribute food where it is most needed.
The Very Rev. Jack Fricke, Dean of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Omaha, NE, was an enthusiastic supporter of the pantry and always encouraged other churches to become involved, so when he died in 1990, Fr. Gabb said it was appropriate that when the pantry was reorganized to be a collaborative effort of Omaha-area churches, the new entity should be named the Dean Fricke Memorial Episcopal Food Pantry.
In early 2019, when we stopped handling food directly, we began operating as the Fricke Episcopal Food Ministry to better describe our refocused effort to make Food Security Grants to agencies that carry out our mission. We retain our IRS tax-exempt status under our original name, which remains our official name as a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
