On March 2019, 66 competition teams—including 33 from Olathe—filled Stagecoach Park with award-winning barbecue in the inaugural Qlathe BBQ Championship presented by The Kansas City BBQ Store and American Barbecue Systems.

The Smoke on the Trails BBQ competition took place on September 27 and 28, 2019 at Celebration Park. This Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event was a qualifying event for the American Royal World Series of Barbeque competition and the Jack Daniels World Championship for 2020.

At The Fountains at Greenbriar, on October 18th and 19th. The Fountains, an independent living retirement community, has hosted this bbq competition for the past 10 years in observance of Senior-Q Month. As with previous years, the feel-good food and conversation between generations kept its promise to be a delight for bbq folks and residents alike.
