Re-Entry or Re-Integration is a term used with criminology field to describe incarcerated individuals integrating back into our community. Our Re-Entry Program specifically served the individuals in latah county jail. We offer both case management and recovery coach services both pre and post release. We have a peer centered approach meaning that we make individuals plan for each of our clients to best fit their needs.
The Case Manager will meet with the participant prior to being released and establish housing, employment options, connection to healthcare, and basic necessities. Our Recovery Coaches will also work one on one with the individual to come up with a plan for when they get released. This will cover going over risky scenarios, safe people to contact, and resources within the community.
Our program hopes to first and foremost help individuals reintegrate into our community and that's where our First Day Programs come into play. We will meet the individuals outside the jail doors once they are released. We then help them accomplish tasks such as checking in with their PO, running to the food bank, going clothing shopping, etc. With the extra hand it helps our participants accomplish what seems like the never ending to do list once the first enter our community.
A successful re-entry isn't just running errands when they first get released. We continue meeting with the participants weekly to address challenges come their way. We encourage our participants to engage with our services for one month post release. However most of our clients engage past the required time as the find the flexibility of our program helpful.
