Welcome to Frendzo. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the choices you have over your data.

This policy applies to all users of the Frendzo mobile application ("App"), whether on Android or iOS. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1.  INFORMATION WE COLLECT

 

We collect the following categories of information when you use Frendzo:

1.1  Information You Provide Directly

  Phone number — used for account creation and OTP verification.

  Display name and profile name chosen by you.

  Profile photo or avatar that you select or create.

  Gender (Male / Female) — used to match you with appropriate connections.

  Preferred language — used for matching you with speakers of the same language.

  Interests — optional tags you select to improve matching quality.

 

1.2  Information Collected Automatically

  Device information: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers.

  App usage data: screens visited, features used, session duration, and interaction patterns.

  Call and chat metadata: call duration, call type (audio/video), timestamps, and language of connection.

  IP address and approximate geographic region (not precise GPS location unless you grant permission).

  Crash reports and diagnostic logs to help us identify and fix technical issues.

 

1.3  Location Information

Frendzo requests location permission only when necessary for regional matching and language detection. We do not store your precise GPS coordinates. You can deny location permission at any time in your device settings.

 

1.4  Payment Information

If you purchase coins or a premium subscription, payment is processed entirely by Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Frendzo does not receive, store, or have access to your credit card, debit card, or banking details.

 

2.  HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

 

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  To create and manage your Frendzo account.

  To match you with other users based on language preference, gender, and interests.

  To enable voice calls, video calls, and chat features within the App.

  To process coin transactions and manage your in-app wallet balance.

  To send you OTP verification codes and account-related notifications.

  To display relevant banners, promotions, and in-app announcements.

  To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, abuse, or violations of our Terms.

  To enforce bans, suspensions, and safety measures to protect our community.

  To personalise your experience and improve our matching algorithm.

  To analyse usage trends and improve the overall performance and stability of the App.

  To comply with applicable legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

 

3.  HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

 

Frendzo does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for commercial or marketing purposes. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

3.1  Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App. These include:

  Firebase (Google) — for authentication, real-time database, cloud storage, and push notifications.

  ZegoCloud — for real-time voice and video call infrastructure.

  Google Play / Apple App Store — for payment processing and subscription management.

All service providers are contractually bound to handle your data securely and only for the specific purpose for which it was shared.

 

3.2  Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Frendzo, our users, or the public.

 

3.3  Child Safety Reporting

In cases involving potential child abuse, exploitation, or violations of child safety laws, we will proactively share relevant data with law enforcement and child protection agencies as required by applicable law.

 

3.4  Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your personal data may be transferred to the acquiring entity. You will be notified via the App or email of any such change in ownership.

 

4.  DATA RETENTION

 

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. Specifically:

  Account data is retained until you delete your account.

  Call logs and chat metadata are retained for up to 90 days for safety monitoring purposes.

  Content reported for policy violations may be retained for up to 2 years for investigation and legal purposes.

  Anonymised and aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify you.

 

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it for a longer period.

 

5.  DATA SECURITY

 

We take the security of your personal data seriously. We implement the following measures to protect your information:

  All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption.

  Chats are encrypted to protect the content of your messages.

  Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only, who are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.

  We use Firebase Security Rules to prevent unauthorised access to our database.

  We regularly review our security practices and update them as necessary.

 

NOTE:  No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

 

6.  YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

 

Depending on your location and applicable data protection laws, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  Right to Access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  Right to Correction — you may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.

  Right to Deletion — you may request that we delete your account and associated personal data.

  Right to Withdraw Consent — you may withdraw your consent to data processing at any time by deleting your account.

  Right to Restrict Processing — you may request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.

  Right to Data Portability — you may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your Frendzo account at any time by going to Profile → Settings → Delete Account within the App. Upon deletion, your profile will be removed from public view and your personal data will be erased within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

 

7.  CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

 

IMPORTANT:  Frendzo is strictly intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

 

If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately suspend the account and delete all associated personal data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account on Frendzo, please contact us immediately at privacy@frendzo.app.

 

8.  PERMISSIONS WE REQUEST

 

Frendzo requests the following device permissions to provide its core features:

  Microphone — required for voice calls. We do not record calls without your knowledge.

  Camera — required for video calls. We do not access the camera in the background.

  Phone — required to read your phone number for OTP auto-fill (Android only).

  Notifications — required to notify you of incoming calls, messages, and important updates.

  Location (optional) — used only for regional matching. Can be denied without affecting core features.

  Storage — required to save and display profile photos and avatars.

 

You can manage all app permissions at any time through your device's Settings → Apps → Frendzo → Permissions.

 

9.  THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

 

The Frendzo App integrates with the following third-party services. Each service operates under its own privacy policy:

  Google Firebase — https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

  ZegoCloud — https://www.zegocloud.com/policy/privacy

  Google Play Services — https://policies.google.com/privacy

 

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these third-party providers to understand how they handle your data.

 

10.  COOKIES AND TRACKING

 

Frendzo is a mobile application and does not use web cookies. However, we do use the following tracking technologies:

  Firebase Analytics — collects anonymised usage data to help us understand how the App is used and improve performance.

  Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports and diagnostic data to help us fix bugs and improve stability.

 

You can opt out of Firebase Analytics data collection by adjusting your settings in Profile → Settings within the App.

 

11.  INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

 

Frendzo is operated from India. Your data may be stored and processed on servers located in India and other countries where our service providers operate, including the United States (Google Firebase). By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations.

We ensure that any international transfer of data is done in compliance with applicable data protection laws and with appropriate safeguards in place.

 

12.  CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, our practices, or applicable laws. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via a prominent notice within the App or via your registered contact method.

Your continued use of the App after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. The date at the top of this document indicates when it was last revised.
