Here is a modified version of Ultima II. The original ST conversion made heavy use of the GEM desktop, as well as AES and VDI functions to draw graphics. It probably looked very modern back in 1985 compared to the 8 bit versions, but didn't aged well.
This updated version includes the following changes:
No more floppy disk routines active.
Runs from hard drive.
No stupid xx-Mb memory requirements, the game runs fine with 512 Kb of RAM, like the original.
Tweaked colour palette that makes it look like an actual Ultima game. No more ugly white background!
Updated tileset closer to Ultima III/IV.
You are not forced to allocate all 90 points when you create a character, you may allocate less.
No more bold text, all text will be normal because the bitmap system font looks ugly in bold.
Tweaked interface, desktop background not visible anymore, swapped the inventory and player status panels and the command window displays 4 lines of text instead of 3.
Standard keyboard keyclick is turned off.
The game has SNDH music from Ultima V.
A title screen (converted from the Apple II 16 colours version of the game) is displayed at boot.
Moving in dungeons (that makes the original game completely unplayable) has been fixed.
Clicking on a menu item is not misinterpreted as an extra click in the main window anymore, resulting in way less unwanted moves.
