THANK YOU FOR JOINING US! See you next year!
When do meetings take place?
FSC Meetings are every Tuesday, 3:00-4:00 in Room A111 at Centerville Middle School.
Who can join?
ALL incoming 6th, 7th, or 8th graders at Centerville are welcome to join!
What languages are taught?
We teach Python basics for the first couple of weeks. Once students have mastered that through projects, we'll move on to more advanced techniques. Later on in the year, we plan to teach HTML/CSS/JavaScript for Web Development, and possibly introduce AI/ML as well.
What happens if I can't attend a meeting?
Don't worry about it! We'll post any slides that we present in the Google Classroom, and you can always reach out to us through email to let us know about any questions.
What is the Merit System?
You'll find out about that at the first meeting :)
Can my friend join after registration?
There is a registration deadline, so if you'd like your friend to join, please send them the form before it's due. However, we may allow new students at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.
Are there meetings every week?
We will be meeting weekly; however, there are a couple of weeks throughout the year where there are no meetings (due to breaks, project timings, etc.). This will be communicated via email to both you and your parents, as well as a reminder in the meeting and in the Google Classroom. You can also view our schedule to know ahead of time, which will be posted on the Google Classroom.
How can I find out what topics are taught?
You can view our syllabus; which will be posted (and possibly handed out) to students at the beginning of the year. It contains the topics being covered in every meeting.
