Now when we turn on Mac of my friend while pressing Alt , I can see the icon to install Yosemite. So I click on that and continue first steps like language without error, but after 2 or 3 steps I received error

Your installation file for Yosemite has had its digital certificate expire. Which means after a certain date it will no longer work. To work around this issue you open the Date & Time preferences pane, uncheck the box for "Set date & time automatically" & set the date back to just after the time Yosemite was initially released (October 16, 2014) then run the installer.

Well, it's actually a tricky one, since (sadly) that's a really unspecific error. It can be caused by many things. Though I guess it's not a filesystem error, since the installer booted up fine. So that's one reason out.

The first thing you should check (and add to your question please) is: Where did you get the installation file (ISO/DMG) from? Is it an official distribution from the App Store, or did it come from a third-party source (a pirating website maybe?). The reason that's important is that ol' uncle Apple are extremely annoying with their security. And I mean, extremely. No access to system files on iOS type of extremely. Now that's (as always :P) a problem here, since if the installation didn't come from a first-party source (aka the App Store), then it might not be properly codesigned (I explained a bit about codesigning below). So please edit your question so it specifies the source if the installation so I can help you further.

Another reason for your problem might just be that the installation is, as specified, corrupted. What does that mean? Well, a lot of times when burning files to a disk (e.g. burning an ISO to a USB drive), there might be a tiny error (maybe even a single corrupted byte) that will just ruin the structure of the whole file. Annoying, isn't it? This can be caused by many reasons. Maybe your file is bad, maybe your disk is bad, maybe your disk maker is bad (in which case I really suggest you try a personal favorite of mine called Rufus, which is also completely free, though sadly it's only available for Windows, so try to get your hands on one for a few minutes), and maybe it just happened randomly (yep, that happens. Bummer.). Go through option one, then if you have a legit, official copy of the installer, check your disk, then just try to burn the installer again. If it still doesn't work, switch to a different disk maker application.

Thank you. Yes I've done that. And it does boot from the internal disk, but my only option there is to reinstall osx. It shows that it's on yosemite, but I can only reinstall it, and then it goes to the apple store, which can't find yosemite of course.

Thank you for your help Eric. Yes, it does see the hard disc when I boot off the usb. And I did check for errors. I even erased the hard disc, just to be sure. But I noticed that it didn't finish the installation, it powers down before it can finish the installation. So I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, that is causing these shut offs.

You are welcome. You posted earlier that after it reboots, it goes back to the installation screen. If you let it run, does it ever finish the installation? There have been a couple OS versions that rebooted multiple times during the installation, but if allowed to run, eventually finished. Have you tried that?

Do you have access to another computer where you can sign into the App Store using your Apple ID and download a new copy of Yosemite? If you can do that, try erasing the USB disk and create a new installer using one of the programs below. See if that will work.

In your earlier post you mentioned that the reason for upgrading your Mac is because you were experiencing problems, what were those problems. It is sometimes better to resolve problems before upgrading your Mac, this may be the reason why you are experiencing difficulties with the installation.

Sounds like it is a hardware failure if it was doing that before you tried upgrading. If it is hardware, i.e the disk then no matter how many times you try to install Yosemite, it will fail. Do you have an external drive you could install Yosemite on, boot up to the USB installer, and in the installation dialogue select the external drive as the destination disk. This should get you going until you replace the drive that is in your mini.

Same problem here. Download went fine but install stuck on gray screen with Apple logo and narrow progress bar. Bar just started to fill and then installation stuck for 2+ hours. I looked up some suggestions, and this is what worked for me:

Sorry. I hadn't got any connection to internet available in order to say thank you all, until now. I could finally install the Yosemite. Simply I have entered in safe mode (holding down the shift key) and "voil" the problem fixed. I was to try any of the solutions posted here (thanks pomme-homme, gazsmash and Megs ICT Tutor), but there was no need. Thank you all

Thanks for your reply Csound1. I've been thinking about your question about what I did that's off page. I can't think of anything. I made sure I had the current version of Mavericks installed and that any other recommended updates were installed. I then did a permission repair on the system drive. Then I attempted the download and install of Yosemite. It got through what seemed like most of the install and then just froze. Period. Nothing. I pressed CMD-L to try to see if the computer was doing anything. Nothing. So I tried a manual power down. Back on and, again, nothing.

I'm unable to move past the Terms and Conditions screen on my Yosemite install on my Mac Mini. I've rebooted three times, and each time it just hangs and won't let me click "accept" to move the installation forward. What can I do?

It reboots when I do a hard shut down, and it looks like it's going to work, but then the installer opens and takes up the whole screen. I'm able to enter my Apple ID, and then when it goes to the next screen (the terms and conditions screen) it just hangs. It won't let me click anything. I've let it sit for an hour three times, and it still won't let me move on to the next screen.

I have the exact same problem. I just did an install from USB for mavericks and I am "stuck" on the Terms and Conditions page where all there is is a list of the categories of terms/conditions and two "greyed out" buttons at the bottom (back and agree), neither of which I can physically click using the trackpad or select using tab/enter on the keyboard.

I've just reinstalled my macbook and wanted to proceed with upgrade to Big Sur but Apple is being Apple on me. When I attempt to sign in to app store, it says the login was incorrect although it was indeed correct as it sent login approval requests to my iphone. Tried several reboots not sure how to proceed at this point. Any tips?

I'm selling my iMac, and want to reinstall Yosemite, but it prompts me to input an apple id to do so. If I proceed, will this link my apple Id to the computer again? I don't want to go through the hassle of selling a computer with no OS, and explaining to them how to install it with their own ID. So is there a way to install yosemite without and ID/will using my ID bind it to the computer?

'After you reformat your hard drive and reinstall OS X, the computer restarts to a Welcome screen and asks you to choose a country or region. If you want to leave the Mac in an out-of-box state, don't continue with the setup of your system. Instead, press Command-Q to shut down the Mac. When the new owner turns on the Mac, the Setup Assistant will guide them through the setup process.'

Probably too late but there is an Internet recovery mode ( as oppose to disk recovery) which will install original OS and no log in details required. I actually came across this option accidentally when disk recovery failed.

Acc to Apple's instructions as well as an Apple users' forum, I signed out of all my accounts and wiped the HD. Upon reboot, it takes me to OSX utilities, I click on "Reinstall OSX," it offers to reinstall El Capitan. When I say OK and agree to the conditions, it checks the computer's credentials and then asks me for my Apple ID, which I do not want to put in.

Yes, erase the disk and install Snow Leopard. This will return it to the state it was in at purchase, depending on whether the SL disk is the one which came from the computer or the retail version, bought separately - this latter doesn't install the bundled applications, so the original one is best and should be included with the machine when you sell it. Then it's up to the purchaser to make his own arrangements for upgrading.

Well, I ran into a new problem... : I started up from the SL disk. Got to the page where it says "to set up the installation of Snow Leopard, click Continue." I did so, got a list of the possible disks (including my partitioned external hard disk which I forgot to unplug), but there was a yellow warning triangle on my "Macintosh HD" which is of course where I wanted to install OSX. And I could not click on that disk for installation - it says "Mac OS X cannot start up from this disk."

I should erase it again to be on the safe side, making sure the format is as I described above. The you don't try to boot from it - you remain booted from the Snow Leopard Disk, start the installer, and at the prompt specify 'Macintosh HD'. If it doesn't work I can only suggest you approach Support -

Important: A clean install of OS X Yosemite requires formatting the Mac hard drive, meaning all contents on the disk will be removed and erased. Be sure you have your important files backed up before attempting this.

OS X Yosemite will install a completely clean slate version of itself on the blank destination drive, giving the user a fresh start. Because the drive was formatted first, no existing operating system will be updated, and no other contents on the drive will be brought over. be457b7860
