Arrival
Most participants will arrive to Gothenburg by plane (Landvetter Airport) or train (Göteborg Centralstation), and will stay at the Comfort Hotel Panorama for the first night.
If you are coming by plane, you can either take a taxi or a bus Flygbussarna. You can pay both by credit card. If you take the bus, you should get out at the first stop (Korsvägen). From there, you can walk to the hotel in 15 minutes, or take a city bus 61 (towards Masthugget) or 63 (towards Linnéplatsen) and get out at Utlandagatan. You will be then be in front of the hotel.
If you are coming by train, you can take the tramway number 2 (towards Mölndal) and get out at Korsvägen. Then, you proceed as in the previous paragraph. You can pay the tramway by credit card (Visa or MasterCard), just by holding it against a card reader a few seconds. Unfortunately you won't get any receipt for later reimbursement.
First day at Chalmers
The first day of the conference (Monday 10/6) will take place at the campus of the Chalmers Tekniska Högskola (campus Johanneberg). It is located from walking distance from the hotel. The first talk is scheduled at 13:15 (standard seminar time), which means you will need to have an early lunch before (welcome to Sweden!).
The talks will be delivered in the Euler room, which is located in the Life Sciences building, but can be reached from the Mathematics building.
The last talk is scheduled to end at 15:15. The rest of the afternoon and evening will be free for discussions.
Rest of the workshop in Varberg
The rest of the workshop will take place at Varbergs Kusthotell. Varberg is a beautiful see town south of Göteborg. We will travel together to Varberg by a bus rented for the participants. The departure is scheduled on Tuesday 11/6 at 9:00. The trip should take a bit more than one hour. During the trip, feel free to do some mathematics. After arriving, there should be enough time for you to get settled and enjoy the welcome fika (coffee and sweets) at 10:45. The first talk will begin at 11:15.
From Tuesday to Thursday, we will have lunch at the hotel (included).
On Tuesday evening, at 18:30, we will have a social dinner at the hotel.
The rest of the meals are not included, and the participants are free to organize themselves. You can explore the options in the center of Varberg, after a relaxing walk along the seafront from the hotel.
The conference ends on Friday 14/6 at 12:00. We emphasize that Friday's lunch is not included, and the participants are free to organize themselves.
Going home
Most participants will need to go back to Göteborg, and possibly spend a night in town, after the conference. You can take a train from Varberg Station to Göteborg Centralstation. At the reception, the hotel staff can explain you how to reach the Varberg station, or arrange a taxi.
The trip from Varberg to Göteborg takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour. If you are staying overnight at the Comfort Panoram Hotel, follow the Arrival instructions to go from the station to the hotel.
Other practical information
Recall that, while Sweden is a state member of the EU, the currency is not the Euro, but the Swedish krona. We don't recommend you to withdraw any cash. In Sweden, it is common to pay everything by card, and some places (cafés, restaurants, shops, etc.) don't even accept cash.
At cafés and restaurants, when paying by card, the card reader may suggest you to give a tip, but it is not an obligation.
