Privacy Policy

Freezer Inventory ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we store it, and your rights regarding your personal information.
1. Data We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when using the App:
- Freezer data: names, locations, descriptions, color, number of compartments
- Item data: names, quantities, units, expiration dates, categories, photos, notes, QR label IDs
- Account information: email address (for registered accounts)
- App settings and preferences
- Activity log: actions performed within the app (automatically pruned after 90 days)
2. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS in the EU West region, Ireland). Row-level security policies ensure that only you (and household members you have invited) can access your data. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
3. Photo Storage
Photos of freezer items are stored in a private Supabase Storage bucket. Photos are not publicly accessible. The app uses time-limited signed URLs to display your photos, ensuring they can only be viewed by authenticated users with access to the relevant items.
4. Household Sharing
If you use the household feature, freezers and items are shared with members you invite by email. Household members can view and edit shared freezers and items. You can remove members or leave a household at any time. The household owner can manage membership.
5. Authentication
The App supports multiple authentication methods:
- Email and password registration
- Google Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Local-only mode (no account required, data stays on your device)
Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth. We do not store your password directly; it is securely managed by Supabase.
6. Advertising
The free version of the App displays ads via Google AdMob (banner and interstitial ads). You may choose to see personalized or non-personalized ads during the consent process or in Settings. Ad networks may collect device identifiers and anonymized usage data for ad targeting when personalized ads are enabled. No analytics services are used beyond what AdMob collects.
7. In-App Purchases
The App offers a one-time premium purchase to remove ads. Purchases are handled directly by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. No payment information is stored by the App. Your purchase status is cached locally on your device to unlock premium features offline.
8. Local Backups
The App can create local JSON backup files stored on your device. Auto backups run every 24 hours, with a maximum of 10 backups kept for up to 30 days. Backup files contain your freezer and item data and remain on your device unless you choose to share or export them.
9. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access: View all your data within the App at any time
- Export/Portability: Export your data as a JSON file via the backup or export feature
- Erasure: Permanently delete all your data (including your authentication record) from Settings
- Rectification: Edit any of your data directly within the App
- Opt-out: Disable personalized ads at any time in Settings
10. Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from Settings > Delete All My Data. This permanently removes all freezers, items, photos, backups, settings, and your authentication record. This action cannot be undone.
11. Children's Privacy
This App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
