Free Movies ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the **Free Movies** Android application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

## 1. About the App
Free Movies is a **movie discovery and information** application. It helps you browse movie titles, posters, ratings, genres, cast, release dates, and **official trailers**.
Free Movies **does not** host, stream, download, or distribute full-length copyrighted movies or TV shows. It is **not a streaming service**.

## 2. Information We Collect
### A. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
We store the following **only on your device** (not on our servers):
- **App settings** — dark/light theme, language, notification preferences, onboarding status
- **Favorites & watchlist** — movies you save
- **Recently viewed** — titles you open in the App
- **Search history** — recent search queries
- **Optional display name** — if you set one in the App (stored locally only)
We **do not** operate cloud accounts. We do **not** collect or store your email, password, or login credentials on our servers.
### B. Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, the following may be processed:
- **Network requests** — to fetch movie metadata, posters, and images from third-party APIs
- **Device & app data** — such as device type, OS version, language, and general app usage needed to run features
- **Advertising data** — through **Google AdMob**, including device advertising ID (where permitted), IP address, and ad interaction data (see Section 5)
### C. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do **not** knowingly collect:
- Government ID numbers
- Payment or financial information (the App is free)
- Precise GPS location
- Contacts, photos, or microphone/camera data

## 3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Display movie details, posters, backdrops, and trailers
- Save your favorites, watchlist, and browsing history on your device
- Remember your preferences (theme, language, notifications)
- Show **banner and interstitial advertisements**
- Send **optional notifications** about movies (only if you enable notifications)
- Improve App stability and user experience

## 4. Where Data Is Stored
- **Local app data** (favorites, watchlist, settings, history) is stored on your device using **Android DataStore** and **Room database**.
- If you **uninstall** the App or **clear app storage**, this local data is deleted (unless your device backup restores it).
We do not maintain a central database of your personal movie lists on our own servers.

## 5. Third-Party Services
The App uses trusted third-party services. When you use these features, your device connects to their servers and their privacy policies apply:

### Advertising & Consent
We use **Google AdMob** to show ads. AdMob may collect and use data to serve and measure ads, including:
- Advertising ID (AAID/GAID) where available
- IP address
- Device information
- Ad impressions and clicks
Where required by law (e.g., EEA/UK), we use **Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP)** to request your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can change ad personalization preferences through the consent form or your device settings.

## 6. Permissions We Request
The App may request these Android permissions:

No method of electronic storage or internet transmission is **100% secure**.

## 8. Children's Privacy
Free Movies is a general-audience movie guide and is **not directed at children under 13** (or the minimum age in your country).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will help you remove locally stored data where applicable.
Some movie metadata may include age ratings from third-party sources — **parental guidance is recommended**.

## 9. Your Choices & Rights
You can:
- **Clear favorites, watchlist, and history** — remove items in the App or clear App storage
- **Clear search history** — from the Search screen
- **Turn off notifications** — in App Settings or device settings
- **Limit ad tracking** — device Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
- **Withdraw ad consent** — where UMP consent is shown, or reset ad ID in device settings
- **Stop all data use** — uninstall the App

## 10. International Users
Movie data and ads are served through third-party servers that may operate in **other countries**. By using the App, you understand that technical data (such as IP address and request headers) may be processed outside your country when you browse movie information, watch trailers, or view ads.

## 11. Data Retention
- **Local data** remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- **Third-party providers** (Google, TMDb, YouTube) retain data according to their own policies.
- We do not retain personal profiles on our servers because we do not operate cloud accounts.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the **"Last Updated"** date at the top. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
