FreeGrid DATA on Design Baseline Gridshells

Are you interested in replicate a Design Baseline Gridshell, or to use it as a springboard to conceive your own Design Solution?

Here we offer in Open Access the information that make it easier.

Geometrical data

The geometries of the DBGs, ready to be imported in 3D modelling software

Inputs for structural FEM

The structural performances of the DBGs have been assessed by Ansys Mechanical APDL 22.2. The input .txt files are made available in Open Access for each DBG and each Load Case at both SLS and ULS

Design Goal Metrics of Design Baseline Gridshells

The single Design Goal metrics of the Design Baseline Gridshells are summarized below in order to allow the participants to evaluate the dimensionless bulk performance metrics of their Design Solution Gridshell(s)

FreeGrid TOOLS for computing your metrics

Some postprocessing tools are offered in Open Access to assist participants in checking the fulfilment of the design constraints during the conceptual design, and in the calculation of buildability performance metrics during the final assessment.

Python script for the automatic check of the fulfilment of the design geometrical constraints.

The script needs as input data the geometry of the design solution in .obj or .ply file format.

Python script for the automatic calculation of the buildability goal and performance metrics.

The script needs as input data: the geometry of the design solution in .obj or .ply file format;  the type DBG and the number of cross sections of the members.

Excel sheet for the automatic calculation of the sustainability goal metric W.

The sheet needs as input data: the full list of the structural members and their characteristics: length, cross section type, weight per unit length, yield strength

Excel sheets for the automatic calculation of the Partial and Bulk Performance metrics.

A sheet for each reference DBG that needs as input data: the Design Goal Metrics of the Design Solution Gridshell
