4 August 2010 - Minecraft Alpha 1.0.15 released - bringing with it the first public release of SMP
4 August 2010 - Freedonia.online registered and the server is created on HemingWay by SlowRiot, who makes himself, and volian then creates Freedonia and approves it. The server then enters private testing.
6 August 2010 - Freedonia opens to the public, running LlamaCraft and hMod.
2 October 2010 - Server's 100th ban (player Demon217).
3 December 2010 - Banhammer actions are now announced in chat.
13 January 2011 - Minecraft Beta 1.2 released. Forces a client update, so Freedonia is forced to switch to a temporary world until HMODis updated.
? March 2011 - BorderLands plugin was enabled and the first circular broder of freedoinawas created with an 18 km diameter.
02 October 2012 - The map is expanded to the north-west. Shortly after the expansion, ElfProXP discovers Freedonia's first Dereset Templein the newly generated area.
1 February 2013 - Server updated to 1.4.7.
and on aprill 2017 server hits the player cap of 120 players for the first time in FCO history. Admins and mods do their best to deal with inflated numbers of players for the next few days.
2018 less and less players joined server
2019 server updates to 1.12.2
Server gets update slowriot has sold the server to elfproxp and volian
17 February 2026 - 40,000 players' homes were set in Freedonia.
7/14/2026 server goes offline

There's a certain fascination with old Minecraft servers that many in the Minecraft community seem to share, with the rich history Freedonia.online is one of those servers today we explore the decade-long history of Freedonia.online, the oldest Minecraft server.

on the 4th of August 2010 - Minecraft Alpha 1.0.15 released bringing with it the first public release of SMP the same day Freedonia.online registered and the server is created on HemingWay by SlowRiot, who makes himself, and Runchan then creates Freedonia and approves it. The server then enters private testing.

people were hard at work making the first permission mangers such as LiamaCraft And Hmod

on 6 August 2010 - Freedonia opens to the public, running LlamaCraft and hMod.

after 1 day flippeh and whogotmynick were promoted to the first mods

and after august 15th they got IRC working

and the servers 100th ban demon1227

in the begining of 2011 the server hit 316 unique players.

eventually the first aprill fools happened by creating a voting system for new players

most of which would be changed back within a day.

a player by the name of zymes built a beachfront with a light house and awesome statues

eventually founded Project Anubis and then renamed to the nexus a massive teleportation system connecting the freedonia world linking a bunch of citys and places in one.

from now on we move to the end of 2011 when the server updated to beta 1.7.3 and got a wiki page and facebook along with the nether being added rendering the fake nether opsolete with

and at the end of december and on to 2012 the server expanded its border to genirate new release 1.1

new year 2013 maybe reset the world maybe add new gamemodes no mini games no Freedonia didn't need any of that instead a 9 km expansion and then updated its world to 1.2.5 to get the new height limit of 256 blocks yeah thats how old Freedonia is in may the server updated its warps removing most of them and added new warps such as autumnwood newlands novum October got yet a other a other expansion in the northwest causing the discovery of freedonia's first derset temple as well as archiving and regenerating the nether and corrupting it making the nether no longer work.

in 2014 player volian0 joins and would soon be very important in the history of Freedonia

as well as player ElfProXP who then built a town called crestline fortress lets fast forwd as nothing to important until the next years

June 2016 bought on massive issue you see a youtuber the campingrusher made a video called minecrafts oldest server but the video was not about Freedonia it was about 2b2t the oldest anarchy server and the people got Freedonia confused with 2b2t which caused massive griefs and no 2b2t is not the oldest server its the oldest anarchy and everyone thought the server was the same as in rushers video but instead Freedonia was a no grief SMP but the rushers didn't know they thought it was the same server the server was then updated to 1.7.8'

but this event also caused the server to it its cap of 120 players at the end of may a new expansion

42k out was made making Freedonia bigger than before which is were the world stands now

but in 2019 for the first time the vistor centre was updated to be better and a new area called the build competition grounds was created in 2020 slowriot died of covid19 and the server was passed down

to player ElfProXP VOlian0 and Opuf12 making changes to Freedonia updating the server to 1.12.2

and in 2024 the server was updated to 1.18.4 and a chunk of unused terrain called the borderlands was deleted to make space for new terrain later in 2026 the server got its first server list page and got updated to 26.2 as well as adding via version and cracked support to have the server work for anyone on any version the server saw a massive hack wave with player 9ba who was IP banned and the server has recovered from its issues and thats were Freedonia.online stands today
