The currency for Freedex is not officially defined, but most commonly uses Netherite Blocks when trading with players.

Gearing up on Freedex can be tricky, but always possible. Try to get on when no one else is on and take the advantage of loneliness. Getting basic diamond gear to start, and work you way up to netherite, protection 4, unbreaking 3 and mending armor. After that, it's best to get a speed charm and haste charm next, because they give you a significant boost to grind for the final smelter charm.
