Freecad Techdraw Templates __TOP_

Do you want to download some architectural templates in SVG for FreeCAD? In the FreeCAD forums, I found a few SVG files with templates for paper sizes like ARCH D and E1, which are standard formats for architectural drawings in the US. The templates are a creation by an artist called Freakcad_User and are available as a free download.

Where can we use this template? In FreeCAD, we can add those templates to the TechDraw workbench. A workbench in FreeCAD works as if it was a work mode in Blender. For instance, in Blender, we have Object and Edit Mode, among others. FreeCAD has many different workbenches that gather unique tools for a particular drawing or task.

I started to move from Fusion 360 since I do not use it that much and it is not free.

I am learning FreeCad.

Everything was going fine until I tried to print 1:1 scale, it was off about 1/16 over 3".

I use 1:1 printouts as templates for fabbing a one-of-a-kind part.

I have tried everything to get rid of this error.

This is a relatively common problem, I think, for Americans who use the default A4 templates, which are longer and narrower than US Letter paper, when their print settings (or driver not offering print settings) shrink the output proportionally by the difference in the constraining dimension (width).

I am writing to you here because I encounter a problem with an SVG logo.

This is the logo of the freecad software:

My problem is that I work 2D drawings under the Techdraw workshop in Freecad with a default template in SVG, it contains the previous logo in the cartridge (as well as other logo).

I would like to add web links on the images of my templates, freecad not currently supporting this function, so I have to extract my drawings in .pdf format and then modify them by adding the links on the images.

My concern is that the previous freecad logo cannot be selected overall, here is the selection:

However, I found a bypass solution for my problem, this to say add the links directly to the template then after adding the drawing to freecad, exporting the page under SVG instead of PDF. Then you just have to open the complete template with Inkscape and export it to PDF. From this way I can add the links to my images directly instead of having to rework the template in PDF (and the links are correctly positioned on the complete images).

If you want to use these templates yourself, processed copies (andthe python scripts to generate them) are hosted on github. Therest of this articly goes through my process for writing the conversionscripts, in generally literate style.

I wish that development could be shared between librecad, qcad, and freecad draft. Eg a common geometry base so offsets and polyline work the same way. Freecad is the best when it comes to layouts, librecad for UI simplicity, and Qcad for functions.

Usaremos el editor XML para agregar una etiqueta freecad:editable a cada elemento de texto editable. Debemos asignar un nombre a cada campo de texto editable, es decir, tenemos que indicar al banco de trabajo TechDraw cuales son los textos editables.
