4 APP PERMISSIONS
The Photo Frame Editor App requires certain permissions to function optimally and provide a seamless user experience. Below is a list of the permissions used by the app, along with their purpose:
1. android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Purpose:
Allows the app to access images, photos, and other media stored on your device. This permission is essential for importing photos that you wish to edit or apply photo frames to.
The application needs access to the device’s external storage to read and import images from the user’s gallery or any external storage. This permission allows users to select photos from their device, which they can edit, apply frames to, or enhance with the app’s features.
Usage:
Access Photos: This permission enables the app to load and display images stored on the device. Users can browse through their photo albums and select images to apply frames or effects.
Import Images: Once granted, this permission allows the app to import images from external storage into the editor for customization.
2. android.permission.READ_MEDIA_IMAGES
Purpose:
Grants the app access to read images stored in the device’s media storage. This is especially important for Android 13 and above, where media permissions are categorized.
The Photo Frame Editor App requires the READ_MEDIA_IMAGES permission to access images stored in the device’s media library. This permission is particularly important for users on Android 13 (API level 33) and above, as it allows the app to read images and provide enhanced functionalities for photo editing and customization.
Usage:
Access to Media Library: This permission enables the app to load images from the device’s media storage, allowing users to select photos from their media library for editing and applying frames.
Enhanced User Experience: By using this permission, the app can display a gallery of images, making it easy for users to browse and choose photos they want to customize.
3. android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Purpose:
Allows the app to save edited images, frames, and other media files back to your device’s storage.
The Photo Frame Editor App requires the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to save edited images, custom frames, and other media files back to the user’s device storage. This permission is essential for allowing users to export their edited photos after they have customized them within the app.
Usage:
Save Edited Images: When users finish editing a photo and choose to save their work, this permission allows the app to write the new image file to the device's external storage, such as the gallery or a designated folder.
Store Custom Frames: Users may also want to save custom frames or templates created within the app for future use, which requires writing access to external storage.
When you use the photo editing feature, we need permission to access your local media to select images. When you save the finished photo, we need the storage permission of the local media, in order to save the photo and change the save path. This permission is only for editing and saving photos. We will not obtain any photos from your device, nor will we modify or delete the content in your local media storage.
4. android.permission.CAMERA
Purpose:
Allows the app to access your device’s camera to take new photos directly within the app for immediate editing or framing.
The Photo Frame Editor App requires access to your device’s camera to allow users to take photos directly within the app. This is especially useful for users who want to capture new images on the spot and immediately edit or apply frames to those images.
Usage:
Take Photos: Users can open the camera within the app to snap a new photo and apply frames, filters, and edits instantly.
Edit Captured Photos: After taking a photo, users can use the app's editing features to add custom frames, effects, or styles to the image without needing to import it from storage.
5. android.permission.INTERNET
Purpose:
Enables the app to access online resources such as downloadable frames, styles, and updates.
Usage:
This permission allows the app to connect to the internet to fetch new frame designs or upload user feedback, if necessary.
6. android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Purpose:
Checks if an internet connection is available.
Usage:
Ensures that the app can determine whether it can access online resources or needs to function offline.
7. android.permission.VIBRATE
Purpose:
Allows the app to control the device’s vibration for notifications or haptic feedback.
Usage:
If your app includes features like vibration when certain tasks are completed, such as saving an image, this permission controls the feedback.
How We Use These Permissions
The permissions listed above are used strictly for providing the functionality necessary to operate the app’s features:
Photo Access: To import and edit photos from your device.
Storage Access: To save your customized photos with frames back to your device.
Camera Access: To take new photos for immediate editing.
Internet Access: To download additional frames and resources.
Network Checks: To determine internet availability before attempting to download content.
User Control over Permissions
Manage Permissions: You can review and manage the app’s permissions anytime through your device’s settings. You can grant or revoke individual permissions as needed.
Opt-out: If you prefer not to grant certain permissions, the app may still function with limited features. For example, without storage access, the app won’t be able to load or save images.
