No, it will not be fixed with formatting. No, installing the driver from Asus doesn't do anything because its not even a 64bit driver! Windows still uses their own driver after you install that.If you extract the package from Asus (not install) and try to manually install that driver from the device manager, windows will tell you its not a 64bit driver, so it can't be used! Asus REALLY messed up with this one...

I went into Programs & Features in the Control Panel (or just search "programs and features" in the Start menu) and opened it up. Then, in the list of all the programs, I scrolled down towards the bottom where all the Bootcamp drivers are (meaning the Windows Driver Packages). I selected the Apple SD Card Reader driver (if you can't find it, just search "Apple SD" in the search bar at the top right), and then clicked Uninstall/Change. Then I clicked Yes when the confirmation window appeared. Then I tried inserting an SD card into the reader, and it worked! It automatically installed a separate driver called "Broadcom SD SCSI Disk Device.

Tried almost everything i could, reinstalled Windows, reinstalled Bootcamp drivers, uninstalled Apple SD Card drivers/Broadcom SD Card drivers, tried manual installation of SD Card drivers, but no luck.

You should take a look at that discussion if you're experiencing this issue yes. Previous to windows 10.1 I was experiencing the SD card dropping off after sleep, but after Windows updated I am now experiencing this on every boot:

If I uninstall that unknown device, it resintalls just like that again. I've tried updating bootcamp drivers to the latest ones available several times. I've tried the suggestion in the post above to try without the apple SD card driver. None of them work.

For over three years now (see date of first post on first link below), a wide range of Macbook users have reported severe problems with the bootcamp SD card driver, we think for a particular Broadcom chipset. The issue got progressively worse with the release of Windows 10, and now with the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (1607 release) the SD Card is inoperable: on boot we receive Set Address Failed (see last link for latest post) and no known workaround exists. Please see the following links for a large variety of users posting detailed reports on this issue:

Boot into bootcamp on a Macbook pro Retina (other users have found the problem in Macbook Airs also - see posts) which uses the affected broadcom chipset, running Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. Try to access content stored on an SD Card using the inbuilt SD Card reader.

See the below configuration of my mac, see also all included forum links for many other hardware configurations where this occurs and the general conclusion that this affects the Broadcom SD-card driver chipset

I recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 on my HP Envy m7-j020dx. The only problem I am currently having is that the internal SD card reader does not seem to be detected at all. I have tried to find a solution using Google, but there was little to find on how to solve this problem, and the solutions I've tried did not work. There is no external problem because everything works fine in Windows 8.

Im having the same issue - SDDR-89 12-in-1 reader is not reading the SDHC cards for mac. It reads other SD cards on mac and in PC it works fine with everything. Sandisk doesnt provide the driver or the firmware update in mac platform.

Often card-reader drivers go unnoticed and uninstalled for a long time on custom OS installs.

I took at CoolerMaster's site, and it stinks for driver-support. In fact, I didn't find the driver for the previous '550' model either.

CoolerMaster isn't a chipset maker- as such, they used another's controller for the card-reader. One that's likely popular with other case/PC makers. You will have to pull the vendor&device_ID from Device Manager and search to find the exact chipset/driver on your own. It may even be found for certain Dell models or the like. Look here.

I have a Dell Latititude D630 and I am rather new with arch and arch based distros, and I was wondering if it is posible to setup my arch laptop to login with a PKI smart card and also use the smart card to store other private certs.. The reader is not working for me as of this writing, the reader is the O2Micro OZ77Cxx USB SmartCard Controller, and is built into the laptop, could anyone offer some support here?

I read guides about setting up GDM to login with a smartcard certificate, e.g. this one, but never tried it myself. Anyhow, you need to be lot more specific on what you run on the system, what you have tried, what works, what works not, etc. Maybe you want to open another thread in a different bbs category for that though, as it will not terribly related to kernel & hw anymore.

The latest drivers for the scanners are found here.

Download and extract the driver files to a folder on your local computer. Then update the scanner driver by pointing the driver installation wizard to the folder.

I executed call %WINDIR%\Sysnative\pnputil.exe /delete-driver oem49.inf /uninstall /force , but I found that this command is only for a single computer, if there are multiple computers, its oem#.inf is in each The display on the computer is different. Is there any other command to remove the card reader driver on different computers? Thank you

I think it has to be associated with ethernet driver somehow, but I'm tired of testing and analysing, I need to use the device in my work. I will wait for Intel's official solution, hope they won't decide to leave it alone...

The IOGEAR GSR202 is a TAA compliant USB Common Access Card Reader for military, government and even private sector workers who need everyday access to secure systems. Common Access Card (CAC) or Smart Card readers are used as a communications medium between the Smart Card and a host (e.g. a computer, point-of-sale terminal, network system, etc.) in secure systems such as those used by government, banking and health care.

Often referred to as a Smart Card, the Common Access Card (or CAC) is the shape of a credit card, and is embedded with a data chip allowing specialized access. In addition to the embedded chip, Smart Cards are usually programmed with a PIN to ensure security for both the card holder and the system being accessed. Having reached tremendous adoption rates outside of the U.S., Smart Cards are now rapidly growing in this country to combat credit card fraud, while also providing the next generation of secure and user friendly identification. The federal government issues Common Access Cards programmed with a Personal Identification Verification (PIV) chip containing the data necessary for the cardholder to be properly identified and granted access to secure federal facilities and information systems. Smart Cards have been in use by the federal government in accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) since 2006, and now the technology is rapidly spreading to banking, healthcare and other areas requiring identity verification and secured access.

A Konica Minolta field service engineer needs to be involved to enable the use of a card reader. Connect the card reader directly to the external USB port located at the rear next to the network port. It may be necessary to remove the right-rear cover to access the USB port. The below card readers are supported but require the installation of a driver.

If a keyboard (KBD) emulating card reader is used (and the card reader driver is Unspecified, Keyboard Emulation Card Reader) and External keyboard is allowed, then if copy screen is open, the Copies field will get populated with card data if during this time, the card is presented to the card reader. To resolve this, disable external keyboard.
