On campus the nicest place to eat is probably Eric's Restaurant in the Hilton hotel, and the adjoining Cougar grounds coffee shop is the best coffee, but The Nook is nice too. Of course campus has dozens of restaurant and coffee options

The best dining hall on campus seems to be The Moody Towers Dining Commons (5 minutes walk, buffet, closed on Saturday)

What to do BBQ (5 minutes walk, next to Stadium)
Houston is the 4th biggest city in the US, and has every kind of restaurant. It is also very spread out, so many restaurants are quite far away. A good source for restaurant ideas is

As with all such lists much of it is highly debatable, for example their current #1 spot is a very odd choice.
Close to campus great restaurants include Mimos (Italian), Street to kitchen Thai, Tiny Champions (pizza etc), Nancy’s Hustle (upmarket), Ninfas on Navigation (TexMex), Eastbound barbecue, etc. Indeed Sunday is the Houston BBQ festival if you are interested!
The UH Hilton is conveniently located on campus.
