Does this work without wifi/home internet at all times? Does it have its own 3G/4G/5G network?

Of course it will be connected to the wifi when i am home. But i will have to turn that off, once i leave my room. Is this possible? Can i turn off the Ring Alarm systems connection to the wifi so that it will rely on its own 3G/4G connection for a few hours while i am gone?

Hi @EranCarmon. The Ring Alarm System is not designed to function properly without an internet connection. Cellular backup is available with a Ring Protect Pro plan so your Alarm can function during temporary wifi outages, though control over the settings is limited under cellular backup. You can reach our support team at one of the numbers here for troubleshooting assistance, though they will also let you know that the Ring Alarm System requires an internet connection.

I tried to set phone as hot spot , when I turned routers off, and used SIM internet , quest said 'ok now its fine', but in reality still no connection. Right after this even regular wifi connection said 'fine', but still no internet.

I was using air link , and everything started from problem of ' half screen is black ', I noticed 'no internet on wifi' , so I decided to update all software, I believe it will fix it, but now question:

Hi All is there a way to run Klipper/Mainsail without WIFI or internet connection and load the files onto a USB so i can print from that. as im setting a machine up for my company, and they dont want to have an unapproved hardware/software connected to the system. so i have a PI 3B, a screen keyboard etc.

I can't blame them - I am a computer professional, but even I find this whole connectiviy problem issue quite annoying. But - I am under no oblgation to waste my time trying to troubleshoot every single guest's device. And guess what - ever second not so positive review for hosts says "baaaad wifi Ma...."

David you have gone to the next level that most users will not understand, they have absolutely no idea what B/N/AC/AX modes are.......they are not from another continent using roaming technology, they are 20 minutes away from home, they get a booking notification on their phone which they can't respond to because their wifi access is clashing with their cellular service.

1/......If you have Wifi turned on on your phone and you are in a public Wifi area and not logged into that wifi signal such as, (sometimes you will walk into the local Laundromat and on entering you will get an sms prompt to long into that laundromats free wifi service) if you don't, and you don't turn your wifi off on your phone you will not be able to respond! The strongest wifi signal will block your cellular phone from accessing the mobile app....that little 'wheel of death' will just keep spinning!

If you are not in a 'personal' phone recognised wifi area (wifi range you are linked to) and you cannot respond through the app it is possibly because your Mobile data has turned off! In this situation go to your phones 'setting' > 'Sim Card & mobile data' > 'Mobile data' and make sure this is activated as per this screenshot.....

Caraline, you can always respond through the mobile app, you don't need to be in your home wifi range, it is best when away from home to go into your phones setting and turn your wifi off and make sure Mobile data is turned on.....you will never get caught then....but remember to turn your wifi on again when you return home!

well Im a host. and I can see a message has come through but can't open it or reply unless Im home in the wifi. its been going on for months now. tonight I lost a booking because out at the beach and couldn't tell them they could check in.. Any help would be appreciated how to rectify this. Its a costly pain in the arse.

I currently live in uni halls and the wifi, to be honest, is ****. It wont let you connect devices through it such as using a chromecast, wireless printer and of course, syncing local files over wifi.

Now thats where my question is, can I sync local files any other way or am I stuck without local files on my phone 'til i move out? (I'm using a desktop computer so using someone elses wifi network to sync isn't possible)

sorry, this is a little late but the only way I have found to successfully transfer files from pc to iPhone Spotify without wifi, is to use your phone hotspot and connect to your computer. It worked for me.

If you are using your camera in a remote location without WI-FI (i.e. plugged into an outlet in my remote cabin and by the way I have already set up the camera with WiFI in my metro home) can it record to the micro-card with Motion only or does it have to record continuously?

just an idea so you can test it out

setup the camera as you suggested at home, unplug it and turn off the SSID (wifi) that it is connects to

plug it back in for a while, then unplug it

now you turn the wifi back on and plug it in again

The Wyze Cam is an amazing budget camera that works like an expensive one with all its bells and whistles. But you begin to wonder how far you can push the limits. Can You Use Wyze Cam Without Internet? Yes, you can use the Wyze Cam without internet...

Just to let everyone know, the mystery is solved. The people at the AT&T shop yesterday forgot to activate my phone! So when I went to make a phone call today over wifi, I got a message to activate it. So all is back to normal now. Thank you for your suggestions and perhaps this may help someone else who may be having the same problem. Have a great rest of your weekend and Happy Valentines everyone!

If you can connect by an ethernet cable it is preferred. IMO you only use wifi if ethernet is not a viable option to connect with. Better stability and latency for gaming. If you do need wifi the 3 ways to get it is either a motherboard with it built in, add an expansion card to add it (PCIe), or get a USB wifi adaptor. Most ITX motherboards will have built on wifi as you only get one PCIe slot that is usually for a GPU and can't add a PCIe wifi card. Larger sizes like matx, atx, eatx have multiple PCIe slots and even though there are some that come with wifi most of them do not.

Hello. I would like to use esphome sensor in environment where is no wifi. It communicates only over SMS. How do I configure wifi component? I know it is mandatory, but when I enter invalid SSID or password, sensor does not proceed to GSM initialization and only restarts wifi in a loop.

My store is in a very remote location where we don't have access to cell service and the WiFi is satellite and dependent on the weather. I'm curious if anyone else has used the app without connecting to the internet and had success. I can probably connect once daily to update and save everything online, but it won't be continuously online.

Looking at buying either Chromecast or Chromecast with Google TV to cast from an Android phone (Motorola Edge not Motorola Edge+) to HDTV (not a smart TV) with HDMI and USB ports (and access to a USB charging port) in a caravan and will not have access to wifi most of the time.

And, to be clear, all Chromecast devices require a network with access to the internet whenever they are running. You can't use them without it. They will stop working and tell you that they need you to restore the internet.

Thanks - if it always needs Internet then a Chromecast or a Chromecast with Google TV is not the solution when I am in areas without Internet access (should have I wouldn't have Internet access a lot of the time rather than Wifi).

@GothamNY I thought the guest option for the Chromecast (not available in Chromecast with Google TV) would work without a network being present or does it require a network even though the Guest doesn't have access to it. cheers

I am looking for a router without WiFI in a small form factor (see image) because I want to replace a cheap 5 port unmanaged switch sitting in our electrical panel. We get internet through our rental agreement but I want everything to go through my own OpenWRT router.

With Blynk.begin the program stucks at the setup, waiting for the wifi connection.

Its the same with Blynk.connectWiFi and Blynk.config how can I bypass these blocking functions with a timeout or similar?

I aways get thinking > error... its SO frustrating! I know I can not connect it to the wifi in my new place but I just wanna use my (expensive) scale and manually enter data in the app. Seems simple enough?

I'd like to know if it's possible or is there an option to use the prusa Link only without wifi ? i mean after connected all with the RPI0 then set up prusa connect and prusalink using wifi !! then run the Mk3 and use prusa link ...i presume answer = No ? as the printer look for the wifi !!

Hi, yes, on the 0.7.0 RC3 it is possible to connect an ethernet adapter. We use them all the time. You can also run link on a full sized Pi with the port already on the board. Just try and disable the wifi so the pi does not try and connect all the time.

could you tell me step by step as you do with the ethernet please i finally delete the printer from prusaconnect and now i can't add printer as there is no wifi ON so no IP adress from the printer i presume.!!

ok i'll try to reconfigure and flash the sd card without the wifi !! i'll let you know , and yes my port is flashing green and as said when i go inside the router i mean my internet box then i can see which equipment is connected on wifi or ethernet and i saw the printer is connected and with another IP adress.. ff782bc1db
