The developers of XWindows Dock, the realistic clone of the Mac dock for the Windows platform, has just released a new updated beta version of their product. The new version 2.0 beta boasts of a new engine, new skins, new plug-ins, better look and faster performance. The new dock now also supports Windows 7.

ntSliderDock is more a psuedo 3D ring dock than a static dock that sits at the bottom or top of your desktop. You can add as many icons to SliderDock as you like and then scroll the ring around with your mouse wheel to find the one you want to launch.

XWindows Dock is a launcher for Windows with a visual style nearly identical to the Dock in Mac OS X. There are several windows launchers like RK Launcher, RocketDock, ObjectDock, Circle Dock and SliderDock,but this is the most accomplished of them and the dock looks excellent.

It supports several features that make this Dock look like Mac OS x Dock , such as PNG icons size configurable, multiple transition effects, overlays, multiple zoom levels, shadows, reflections, and you may opt for a dock in 2D or 3D.

When you have opened XWindows Dock, the dock should be at the bottom of the desktop as in the shot below. To add more shortcuts to it, drag and drop desktop icons onto the dock. Start menu shortcuts can also be dragged onto the dock.

Rainmeter skins used are "Circutous" for the recycle bin, wifi and hdd. Also used is a visual style called "Geniun 8" and a custom icon for the start orb.

The "Windows Start Orb" was changed (using AP-GRAPHIK's "steelOrb small for Windows 7" - an artist on Deviantart - and "Windows 7 Start Orb Changer") because I docked the taskbar to the top, and the orb was too big and would stay on top of browser windows.

I got Yaru back by installing gnome-tweaks and selecting it with that, and after a few more reboots I am becoming more comfortable with the TTY login. Ubuntu Dock is missing or not working but I will post that separately (although I am starting to like the "Fedora" look of the dock). 0852c4b9a8
