For the past few days I've been working on this little project to port/demake Lively Wallpaper but for Chrome OS. Well now the project is basically complete, and I was able to get regular live wallpapers and interactive/dynamic ones working too.

It works pretty similarly to the actual Lively Wallpaper. A window containing a non-interactable YouTube embed is placed behind everything in full screen, and your apps overlay it. As for interactive wallpapers, those are just web pages that run off something like WebGL, javascript. So at first I just tested it out with a basic interface I made in like 5 min, then created a GUI in Google Sites and exported as HTML, modified the exported HTML, added a PWA manifest, and done. In the future I do plan to add more wallpapers, so suggest some in the comments.

To install/use it, go to the link below, go to the Chrome menu (3 dots in the corner), click More tools, and click Create shortcut. Then make sure to enable "Open as window", then click create. Now click on a wallpaper, press the fullscreen button on your keyboard, and you're done. You can move your mouse to the bottom of the screen to access your taskbar and to switch to your other apps. When an app is overlaying Lively, it won't autohide but when you click on the wallpaper, it will switch to Lively and hide the taskbar.

I tried looking for solution, i tried to reset settings but it didn't work. I also tried to put the background image on another computer and it worked fine. Google chrome is up to date, my laptop too, so I'm a bit at a loss here. (sorry if there is any typos, English isn't my main language)

As an admin, you can use the Google Admin console to set custom wallpapers for managed users and Chrome OS devices on the sign-in screen. You can choose to display logos, artwork, announcements, or even lunch menus.

When you set a custom wallpaper, users see your image every time they start their Chrome OS device and whenever they return to the desktop. They cannot set their own wallpaper or choose from any of the wallpaper options built into Chrome OS.

We would like to limit or disable completely the ability for students to change the wallpaper in their Google browser. I have tried to do this using device management in the Google Admin Console with no success. I chose the Student OU and uploaded a .jpeg for a Custom Wallpaper to try to force all of the student computers to use that wallpaper but it had no effect. I have even tried to force install an acceptable Theme using the Apps and Extension page. I recently used the Apps and Extension page to deny all but the extensions that we wanted to block the students from installing (which worked great by the way) and only allow or force installed the extensions we wanted them to have. When I tell it to force install an acceptable Theme we have chosen it to the OU it doesn't install it. All the Google articles talk about blocking or installing wallpaper at the local level but I would like to do this from the GAC so I don't have to touch all 500 machines. Anyone have experience with this?

Is there any functionality within chrome or is there an extension available that allows image opened in chrome tab to be set as desktop background without actually downloading it, just like Firefox allows.

I installed Google Chrome Remote Desktop without any problem, i can connect to the machine but for some strange reason all i get when i connect to the computer is the wallpaper and the mouse pointer i don't see the current desktop session in progress, and i was wondering if anybody could provide a solution to my problem? I have gnome and Open box desktop environment installed.

I want to run my automation as an unattended mode, so i dont want browwser/chrome to be opened as a pop on the screen because it will affect the user everytime when the bot is scheduled to run, I have tried with use application/browser activity and enable the Background option also but its not working for me whenever I am running the bot, everytime chrome is opening as a pop over the screen.

How to solve this? is there any alternative way or any other similar browser based application available which allows us not to open it in the foreground in the runtime?

I have been using #Momentum for years now. Getting a new wallpaper and a quote every morning is just so refreshing. Recently I started using the focus field to put my screen cast focus. Just a small tweak, but adds a lot of value. Thank you @momentumdash for this awesome extension

My @momentumdash this morning is gorgeous. For those that don't know it's an extension that displays a picture and other info when you open a new tab in chrome. My 'todo' for the day is to conquer it.

I just bought my Macbook Pro, and I've been getting it setup the way I want it. I installed Google Chrome and it left a white drive icon the desktop. I've tried putting it in the trash bin, but it says it cannot be deleted because Chrome is using it (even though there is no chrome window open). I've also tried dragging it into a folder in Finder (applications, documents, etc.) and it will copy it into the folder, but the icon is still there on the desktop. What should I do? Is there another way I can hide it or cut and paste it into a folder?

an option to customize google chrome home page's background image was working completely fine until (i guess) there was an update to customization of themes. After that i was i was able to upload my image of interest to the background, BUT as soon as i close the application and restart any other time, IT WAS UNABLE TO RETAIN THE IMAGE. There was only a grey screen in background. The uploaded image is not even showing in the preview window. I have not changed the location of image i am using, its the same as it was alwaysuploaded image not showing in preview windowafter restarting applicationno image showingtheme is still set to "upload image".

I have a background image on a div. it works on Safari, Firefox, IE-10, Edge but when it comes to chrome it show a line as it is shown in the following image: 1439106 12.2 KB.

how can be this kind of problem acheived?

Just like every other device and program available right now, Google Chrome is taking on a bit of an AI edge. In an update bringing Chrome to version 121, Google brought generative AI wallpapers and theming alongside automatic tab organization powered by machine learning.

It also looks like most of the choices are similar to the Pixel wallpapers, too, so that means we should see a nice selection at first and will likely see that collection grow over time with more interesting wallpapers added on the regular.advertisement

Given how often we open new tabs in Google Chrome, it's easy to get bored of any single background image. Luckily, Chrome allows you to automatically switch the new tab page's wallpaper every day. Here's how to set it up.

On the "Background" page, you'll find a number of preset collections of backdrops, such as "Textures," "Landscapes," "Art," and "Earth." Google Chrome can automatically apply a new wallpaper from any one of these collections every day on your new tab page.

These backgrounds have strong Material Design vibes that convey a level of physicality into the digital experience.
