Whether in gaming, animation, architecture, or VR, the principles and techniques outlined in this guide lay the foundation for crafting visually stunning and lifelike renderings. Now it's your turn. Show us what you can achieve with PBR in your next project!

Aerial rendering involves crafting three-dimensional visual representations of architectural marvels and outdoor landscapes from elevated viewpoints, offering a unique and comprehensive outlook. In this guide, we delve into the types, benefits, and process of creating compelling aerial renderings that captivate the imagination.

Whether you're an architectural enthusiast, a professional in the field, or simply curious about the artistry behind aerial renderings, this guide will take you on a captivating journey into the realm where architectural visions take flight.

Composition and framing play a crucial role in rendering, contributing significantly to the visual impact and effectiveness of the final image. In aerial scene rendering, these techniques are essential to guide the viewer's eye, tell a visual story, enhance aesthetic appeal, emphasize design features, facilitate client communication, accurately portray scale, engage the viewer, and contribute to effective marketing and branding.

Post-processing for architectural rendering involves editing and enhancing imagery to achieve final results of high quality and a professional appearance. This process is carried out after the initial rendering is complete and typically involves several steps, exposure adjustment, color correction, noise reduction, texture enhancement, composition, filtering, and post-effects.

In this article, we catch up with Francesco Legrenzi, the author of what would go on to be the definitive guide for V-Ray back in 2008. Francesco has spent the last 4 years dedicating himself to writing a similar guide for Corona Renderer, with the aim of making it just as definitive! We spoke with him about the book, and the work that has gone in to writing it.

The program was under development and would be subject to numerous changes in the following months, which allowed me to take my time. We discussed the feasibility of creating a guide for Corona Renderer, and I started writing the first pages in March 2016, with their support, using Corona v1.3 (3 November 2015).

For customers who already bought the V-Ray book, reading the Corona Renderer guide will be instantly familiar. The style used is quite faithful to my first manuscript. I used a similar format, with colours and layouts that recall the V-Ray book.

More than a guide, it is a technical manual in which ALL the Corona Renderer parameters are explained.

The web is full of video tutorials or online courses for Corona Renderer, often expensive, sloppy, and similar to each other. Usually, they want to explain how to generate an interior, a living room, a bathroom, or an architectural exterior as quickly as possible.

The hundreds of comparative images will simplify and speed up your understanding of Corona Renderer, allowing you to browse the guide anywhere and at any time of day, without the need for electronic equipment.

Being able to read peacefully on the train, on the bus, on vacation, without the hassle of carrying a computer of limited duration is a luxury that only a book can offer.

Furthermore, reading a book is in itself a unique sensation, where the pleasure of owning and touching a REAL book with your hand is priceless: a real rarity nowadays.

Finally, I have to thank Ondra and his whole team. Compared to the V-Ray book, which Chaos Group was totally unaware of, as that guide was born as a small personal project and I never expected such an international enthusiasm.

This time Chaos Czech has been an active and fundamental figure from the very first pages. The Corona Renderer team has always been aware of the guide development, offering me constant support, with everything from the summary to the cover.

For example, when I wrote about the CoronaHairMtl shader, I had the privilege to be in direct contact with the programmer responsible for its development, being able to ask him for unique technical details; or when I talked about 2.5D Displacement written by Ondra, who supported me and often suggested how best to write certain parts of the book.

I cannot fail to mention Marcin Miodek, Rowan Manns and George Karampelas, with whom

I spoke hundreds of times, receiving advice on how and what to write about many parts of the guide.

Having the Corona Renderer guys available on Skype in real-time over the last four years has been invaluable to the books final outcome.

Many thanks to all of you!

Thanks to my decades of experience in creating complex scenes (especially exteriors), the structure of the files attached to the guide are accurate and complete in detail, with names of objects and materials understandable and self-explanatory.

All scenes are organized with layers specially named to offer perfect navigation within the file structure.

The book was developed using 3ds Max 2015 when Corona Renderer v1.3 was compatible starting with 3ds Max 2011. All files are tested with 3ds Max 2014 through to 2021, ensuring full compatibility with all 3ds Max versions supported by Corona Renderer v6.0.

Through out my professional career, i've fixed countless files, some of which had common repeated mistakes. All the time we see on forums, people asks same common errors/mistakes.We can all benefit, not even Cgarchitect users but all vray community.

It took me years of reading to find out how to troubleshoot many many things and some still appear. I'm guessing that if I'd had such a guide, the time I used in searching and reading would've been put to enhancing and improving.

Ismael, I must say it is a great resource for vray users. But those are more like precautions which should be taken in the very first place. This can be added though. My idea is more towards troubleshooting.

I think that little to none users would say we don't need a guide. There's no harm to it. Wouldn't it be better to start listing issues and solutions here and when a handful of tips have been posted we can start talking about the ebook?

One problem I recently had which I couldn't solve was a small scene I was trying to render and max crashed due to no memory available. The scene was quite simple and I wasn't using any fancy models nor materials. The output image wasn't huge either, but it seems 2GB of RAM is not enough in some cases. I googled a lot and couldn't solve it by changing output image dimensions, vray settings or increasing windows pagefile. Had to switch to a pc with 4GB of RAM. Any tips on this?

Yes we do! At firs post I learnd something new like light cache and object far away from rendering one So yes we need guide but not just tell us "remove unwanted object on your scene" but describe us why we need to remove these object like in first post because of light cache, scene bounding box is too large and so on

Great Idea. I Think that everyone should share something on the forum that can be complied into an ebook. Can have categories such as render setup issues, modelling, shader creation... etc.. Maybe cg architect could compile the guide and call it Cg Architect Vray for dummies? I think everyone would also pay a small fee for it if someone like Jeff put it together?

what the earlier poster says is right in many cases, like I would want to be guided straight to the point in question at that moment; rather than flipping many pages of the book to arrive at the needed section. And forums do just that .

To help these new players, I took it upon myself to write a clear and elaborate guide that will help anyone setup a new head-tracking system with the use of Opentrack. I will keep the topics separated by chapter to keep a clear distinction between the different elements.

Although there are expensive options like VR and TrackIR, there are also several cheap options. TrackHat and DelanClip, for instance, provide a complete setup for only 35-40 euro. A DIY system can be made for as little as 10 euro! If you are willing to make it yourself.

TrackHat, this is a good price/value option. The cheapest complete starters set is 37 pounds. In this starter set, you get a modified PS3 eye camera, cabled TrackHat clip, instruction manual and all software is provided. All elements can also be bought separately. The TrackHat Clip is durable and will last you a good while. This product is reported to be very easy to setup with good customer support.

In this guide, I will walk you through the steps to set up an Opentrack setup as this is currently the best software (and it is free). The coolest part about Opentrack is that it will work with pretty much any setup and product. Below I have listed some of the best options and where to get the hardware and software.

The LED's on your tracking clip or hat are not the only objects in this world that can produce infrared light. This light is all around us and almost every light course will emit it. For Opentrack to find your LED's, you will need to be sure that opentrack and your surrounding is setup correctly. These steps will guide you through the process.

Thank you (and others) for the guide. Gave me the confidence to jump into the world of headtracking (I'm software jargon illiterate!). Followed the guide easily. best bit of advice for me was disabling roll. Perhaps my dodgy eyes but that worked great for me! Have even dug Rise of Flight out of mothballs!! Cheers 0852c4b9a8
