This research study investigates the effects of library instruction tutorial format (written versus video) on student preference and performance in chemistry education. The authors assessed the format of tutorials used to provide library instruction in an introductory chemistry course by observing 27 student participants as they took in instructions in either a video or a written format and then completed two chemistry information tasks. While participants expressed strong preferences for particular formats, neither the video tutorials nor the written instructions significantly improved task completion speed or performance. Rather, the authors determined that student preference alone is enough to justify the continued production of multiple versions of instructions for the same assignment.

Courses will be taught online, but include scheduled meetings that will also be online instead of in a physical classroom. Students will log into Blackboard Collaborate, a virtual meeting space built into the learning site, and watch instructors teach a lesson, provide work examples and answer student questions in real time. Students will need a computer, a reliable Internet connection, a webcam, a microphone and earphones or earbuds in order to complete the real-time portion of the classroom instruction.

There will be an increase in the number of cross-curricular informational passages that reference content aligned to the TEKS for other subject areas (e.g., social studies, science, mathematics, fine arts, etc.). While the cross-curricular passages on reading language arts (RLA) test will include topics from other subject areas, the questions will only assess RLA TEKS; students will not be scored on their understanding of TEKS for other subject areas.

Based on research and educator feedback, the essay component will shift from a standalone prompt to writing in response to a reading selection. Students will write in one of three possible modes: informational, argumentative, or correspondence and will be scored using a 5-point rubric. The rubric will include two main components: idea development and language conventions.

An executive MBA program, also known as an EMBA program, is designed for students who are further along in their careers and want to continue working full-time while in school. Schedules vary among programs, but most offer part-time formats like weekend classes. At Wharton, EMBA students earn the same MBA degree as full-time MBA students.

Wharton offers the same MBA degree in two formats: the traditional, full-time MBA in Philadelphia, or the Executive MBA in either San Francisco, Philadelphia, or via our Global format. Both programs require the same high admissions standards, follow the same rigorous curriculum, and confer the same Wharton MBA degree. The delivery and structure of the programs differ to meet the needs of different student types.

Students in both the full-time MBA and EMBA programs earn a total of 19 credit units, however, EMBA students are not required to select a major. Executive MBA students vote to determine the electives that will be offered in their second year and they can choose to take electives on the opposite coast for a course or for an entire term. With the largest electives offerings of any EMBA program, Wharton executive MBA students can customize their education to meet their professional interests and goals. To enhance their learning, EMBA students are required to participate in one of four Global Business Week experiences; a required one-week international trip. Students in the Global Cohort also attend two required Modular Courses (optional for Philadelphia and San Francisco students) led by Wharton faculty around the world.

The 20-month full-time MBA Program runs Monday through Thursday, with the summer off between the first and second year for internships. The Executive MBA Program is designed for working professionals with options in San Francisco, Philadelphia, and via a Global format. For students in the San Francisco and Philadelphia cohort, the program runs in San Francisco and Philadelphia on alternate Friday/Saturday weekends over 24 months, with several extended sessions, including a one-week orientation class session in Philadelphia, a one-week international trip (Global Business Week) and a one-week marketing course in San Francisco. For students in the Global cohort, the program runs on alternate weekends over 22 months through virtual class sessions, supplemented by several required in-person class sessions including a one-week orientation class session in Philadelphia, a one-week international trip (Global Business Week), and two required Modular Courses.

The full-time Wharton MBA Program costs $167,748 for two years. Housing and meals are not included in tuition. The estimated total budget is $237,136, including room and board, books and supplies, and other expenses. Students are responsible for their own housing, meals, and course materials.

The prudent medical student will begin compiling a CV in the first year of medical school. The document should include all undergraduate and graduate education, educational honors, relevant publications and research, relevant work and volunteer experience, and personal information the student wishes to share. Non-traditional students will also need to account for all time between undergraduate and/or graduate school and the time medical school began. All time gaps must be accounted for.

Because our college is officially a non-grading, non-ranking institution, all grades above "Satisfactory" must be listed on the CV. Other schools list these grades on official transcripts for programs to review when considering students for interview. If this information is not included on your CV, interview spots may be filled before programs are notified of our internal grades in the MSPE. Letters of commendation and honors grades are typically given to only the top 25% of any group and are truly worthy of distinction. Remember the correct terminology is letter of commendation or honors for an individual grade.

During the residency application season for fourth-year students, the CV needs to be prepared as early as possible as faculty members might request a copy in order to produce a letter of recommendation. A CV is no longer required for the residency application itself but is good to have available nonetheless. Keeping it updated will help you as you develop in your career.

Other schools have a systems-based approach, where you have blocks that last several weeks dedicated to a specific organ system, such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, etc. You will study physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology unique to that specific organ system and repeat this format for the next system block.
