After 25+ years of helping people use and experience the web, Internet Explorer (IE) is officially retired and out of support as of today, June 15, 2022. To many millions of you, thank you for using Internet Explorer as your gateway to the internet.

Chrome has spoiled us and if you are lucky enough to have played with the shiny new APIs recently, I hope you have Chrome because ES6 Modules are still not implemented in Firefox, And both Firefox and Edge do not support Custom Elements (Firefox just enabled it in Nightly for FF 59)

The recent spate of of "is the new IE" articles recently is weird. Were any of the authors of these articles actually around and coding in the IE6 era? Or is it just "things aren't ideal so let's call some of the browsers names until it's better"?

On January 12, 2016, Microsoft adjusted their product lifecycle policies to only support the most recent version of Internet Explorer offered for any given version of Windows.[6] Support for Internet Explorer 11, now regarded as an "OS component", is bound to the version of the Windows it is installed on. Thus, Microsoft provides updates only to currently supported versions of Windows. This includes Windows 10 LTSC (formerly LTSB), and supported Windows Server versions, which will continue to receive IE11 updates until their respective end-of-support dates. The exception to this is the Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel (SAC). For SAC versions of Windows 10, Internet Explorer 11 support ended on June 15, 2022, Internet Explorer was permanently disabled on February 14, 2023, and any remaining icons or shortcuts were due to be removed on June 13, 2023. However, on May 19, 2023, various organizations disapproved, leading Microsoft to withdraw the change.[7][8]

Older versions of Internet Explorer have security problems which will never be fixed and using it will leave you vulnerable to all sorts of problems on the internet. Many websites, such as Facebook, Youtube and Gmail are no longer supporting old versions of Internet Explorer.

When opening Revit Architecture 2011 x64, a dialog from my web browser opens asking if I want to download the index.html file from the temp folder where revit saves the recent file information, then opens the recent file page in the web browser.

So far as I can tell, I can still use the program without any other problems, and I know it is possible to disable the recent file page on startup, but this just started happening for seemingly no reason, and it makes me nervous to not do anything and assume it won't become a bigger problem.

The default browser is mozilla firefox. However, I changed the default program for html files to internet explorer to see if that might fix it, but all that did was cause the recent files page to open in internet explorer instead of firefox.

I have seen this behavoir now in Revit 2014 on windows 7 64. The user has Firefox, Google and IE installed and the Recent file list when first opens, opens the Autodesk Web page for Revit. Has a more formal fix been issued or steps released when encountering mixed browsers and its effect on Revits recent file list?

The automatic message that displays when you try to access canvas via explorer says that explorer is no longer supported. I wonder if it would be possible to add extra information pointing users to launch a different browser. We have found out users are sometimes just perplexed by this note and think Canvas is just not working anywhere. Canvas is usually so good at communicating with its users. Could you not get one of your communication experts to write a more user-friendly message please?

The browser was originally launched by Microsoft in 1995 as one of the first and most popular browsers on the internet at the time. The company created 11 versions of Explorer throughout its existence, with the final version being released in 2013.

Internet Explorer was one of the very first internet browsers available worldwide in 1995 and had, for a time, become the most widely used tool for web access. However, comparatively poor performance to competitive browsers, lack of themes, and default installation in Windows systems were some aspects that drew criticism from users.

So, I struck out going to AT&T and to Samsung for help with this problem of getting Favorites from Samsung Internet Explorer to MS Edge. I continued to search the internet for suggestions and ideas. Well it took a while but the only solution I could come up with was to proceed with manually sharing each Favorite in the Samsung Internet Explorer to MS Edge, both on the same Samsung S8 phone. Then once I had all 442 favorites shared over to Edge, all in the same folders as they are in SIE, I turned on signed into my MS account and turned on sync for MS Edge. In about 3 minutes, all 442 Favorites showed up on my new phone, right where I was expecting them to be.

What you're trying to do is impossible. I guess one way you could install it would be to install Windows 10 via bootcamp onto your MacBook, and then boot in Windows and use the internet explorer browser that way, but there is no way to use that browser from macOS.

So I haven't posted a good rant on my blog in quite some time - I had chilled out a lot in my older years, but I just have to tell this story about Safari and my struggles in getting it to work with my chat room I had built recently.

Clearing the cache and cookies from a web browser is an important first-step for almost any troubleshooting for internet browsing. The 'cache' is a tool used by your internet browser to speed up the page loading process. However, sometimes it can cause a problem when websites are updated and developed as files saved in the cache may conflict with what's actually coded into the website. Clearing cache and cookies is a way we can be sure that any issues you may come across are actually something wrong with the website, rather than inconsistencies caused by using different browsers.

In recent releases of IE, Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, and latest Citrix Workspace App clients many of the issues mentioned below have been resolved.

By default, the OS (Windows, Mac, Linux) should automatically set how to open ".ica" files when trying to launch any resource via Citrix Workspace or Citrix Storefront via the Web Store if the Citrix Workspace App is installed properly.

Confirm Citrix Workspace App is installed or use Citrix Workspace App for HTML5 ("Web Browser" option) instead.

If you continue to encounter this behavior please review the steps outlined below.

Microsoft stopped supporting versions 7, 8, 9, and 10 of IE back on Jan 12, 2016. That means no patches or security updates, which makes your PC more vulnerable to viruses and malware. Microsoft does still support the most recent version of IE, version 11. However, even on their own support pages, they highly encourage users to download their new browser: Microsoft Edge.

Support is provided by Oracle on all platforms that the browser vendor provides support for. For mobile device operating systems, Oracle provides support for the most recent browser delivered by the device operating system only.

We are aware that more recent versions of Edge have a degree of ActiveX support in their IE mode. This has not been tested or certified by Alemba. Anecdotally, we have heard that vFire 9.x runs fine on Edge in IE mode. However, our strong recommendation is still to upgrade to ASM v10.

Updating your browser to the most recent version gives you access to the newest features, but most importantly, it protects your computer from attacks. Most browsers update automatically by default, but if your browser is out of date for any reason, you can manually update it by doing the following:

We have had reports running between Zendesk & Power BI for over a year, however recently I am unable to connect because I am unable to load the 'Authorisation' screen presented when I do a web -> https://[domain].zendesk.com connection.

Of particular interest, these vulnerabilities impacted versions of Internet Explorer from IE6 all the way up to IE11, which was just recently released in October (IE11 has been touted by Microsoft as making the web 40% more secure). The fact that these vulnerabilities are present up to the latest version of IE means that not only are the critical, but the scope of affected user is also particularly large.

Further, address bar autocompletion is expanded in IE 5. When users type in a URL, a drop-down box appears with a list of recently accessed sites that match the first few characters entered. Users can navigate and choose from this list using the arrow keys. Autocompletion also works for plain-word named "Favorites" sites. 0852c4b9a8
