Sorry if I ask this here, but I would like to buy a new laptop for my GF. Currently, she learn how to use photoshop, illustrator, webdesign, and her current machine does not support more than 8 gigs of ram and NVMe SSD.

I have no clue what photoshop really needs, CPU, etc. I know that minimum 16gb ram and 512 nvme for smooth operation is a must. What else should I look for? Does it need nvidia integrated GPU, or the ryzen/intel integrated enough?

What if I go for a ryzen 3 with 2 cores 4 thread, 32gb ram, samsung nvme ssd?

She uses an external 1080P IPS display.

I have to look for a new high performing Windows notebook to use mainly Photoshop and Lightroom on it, but also 3D software. I have had a Thinkpad with a Nvidia Quadro 2000M which died (overheating?!) and is now not usable anymore and I have a Cintiq Companion 2 (which is impossible slow to work with: in photoshop you can watch soft brushes draw a stroke a long time after my hand has finished it and in lightroom I spend a lot of time waiting for changes to become visible).

I can't comment on why the GPU did not last - but you are right in that heat is the enemy of processors. A notebook will always be compromised there so it will be a matter of finding the compromise between power and cooling. That is why many of us build our own desktops with large power supplies, multiple fans, and even water cooling for the processor. I can't carry it around though

*Can I use a macbook pro 2015 WITH the dedicated gpu? I read online that model wont work becuase of the intel iris GPU in that machine, but what if the laptop has the dedicated GPU from that year? ( AMD radeon R9 M370X  )Also if that machine does not work with all the latest photoshop features, is it possible to just pay for a current subscription but use an older version of photoshop? I saw youtube videos showing how to find and use older versions from the Creative Cloud manager, but I can't find that anywhere. OR is it possible to just run 2023 photoshop on that machine or a different older machine by disabling settings in photoshop? ( such as "old gpu mode" )

*What if I buy a 2016, or 2017, or 2018 macbook pro? Can I get current photoshop to work on those machines? I paid for photoshop trial one year ago and ran the full version of photoshop on my 2018 macbook air that I am typing on right now and it worked just fine, but now when I am signed in to my adobe account it says "phothsop not compatible with your computer"

Also, I did read the requirments page for current photoshop and it said, must have at least gen 6 intel processor or later, the gpu needs to be compatible with Metal, and also ARM processors. A lot of older machines have gen 6 or later CPUS and GPUs that support metal, but how do I determine which Windows machines use ARM architecture?

I can't afford to buy a brand new laptop right now just to run photoshop but I would still like to purchase and use the software in 2023. I have spent probably 10 hours of research trying to figure this all out, if anyone can help me answer these questions, I would be so grateful. Thanks, and have an awesome day. : )

More specifically, you said the Ai healing brush tool works, but are there other new photoshop features that wont work? Such as providing a text prompt to describe a change you want made to the image, and ai then makes that change? Or any other new features?

According to this spec HP Notebook - 15-ay513tx Product Specifications | HP Customer Support that notebook uses a dedicated AMD card. However, it could be a variation. But even if it is fitted with the AMD card, it is still below the specs of tested cards (and folk do run into troubles even with tested cards).

Photoshop 23.3 suddenly stopped working properly. I got notebook with 2 GPU's. Photosop starts giving me GPU error every time when i open file in camera raw. GPU compatibility check says everything ok.

When i disable other GPU its better but not what it has to be: suddenly GPU compatibility start giving error about drivers versions(got newset, tried older - nothing changed) and unavialable opengl drivers. Reinstaling drivers nothing changes. I tried studio and gaming drivers - nothing. I do clean install of windows, installed only updetes, newest drivers and photoshop - the same. In Photoshop - GPU gray, cant enable, In Camera RAW - basic acceleration. Creazy...

btw. I don't understand what's doing step 7 in that case. I thought that step 7 asign a specific GPU to aplication. So I was wrong. There is another solution in net that you should assign in Windows which app should use which GPU - I was thinking that this will set system to use that specific GPU. It's seems I was thinking wrong too. That solution tell's that you need to specify photoshop.exe and snifer.exe to use GTX. But it also not working for me.

Data Science Workspace allows users to create Jupyter Notebooks through the JupyterLab platform where they can create and edit machine learning workflows. JupyterLab is a server-client collaboration tool that allows users to edit notebook documents via a web browser. These notebooks can contain both executable code and rich text elements. For our purposes, we will use Markdown for analysis description and executable Python code to perform data exploration and analysis.

In our tutorial, we will be using Python 3 in the Jupyter Notebook to show how to access and explore the data. In the Launcher page, there are sample notebooks provided. We will be using the Retail Sales recipe for Python 3.

The Retail Sales recipe is a standalone example which uses the same Retail Sales dataset to show how data can be explored and visualized in Jupyter Notebook. Additionally, the notebook goes further in depth with training and verification. More information about this specific notebook can be found in this walkthrough.

I am new to photoshop and want to make lined paper. (evenly spaced lines) I open a new doc- then make a new layer. First I make an even line with the line tool. Then I Control J to make several copies. I select the last layer and control T to transform. When I left click to drag on line to bring it down to the bottom so I can redistribute lines after- it just makes a huge filled in rectangle shape. Even when I skip the copies and just try to free transform the line to make an exact copy it makes a filled in rectangle shape. I hope this question makes sense. Thanks for any help.

How do I get things working properly again? Can you point me in the right direction? My laptop has two GPU's, an Intel and an NVidia (which, by the way is the dumbest thing ever, NEVER buy a dual GPU laptop... it's such a headache). The Intel does the displaying in non DirectX or Direct Draw aplications, but after much work I have gotten the NVida to do the heavy lifting. It's such a mess. That being said, I was able to use the built in Intel Calibration tool to do some eyball calibrating... but I am still pretty far off. I can Adjust the gamma on my NVidia card, but because it does not handel displaying things that are not Direct X, it has no effect on photoshop (It only has effects on high end video games).

Last night I purchased photoshop on my Alienware laptop and prior to my purchase I never had this problem. Out of nowhere my laptop will just randomly shut down. No error message. No nothing. It will do it multiple times an hour. It really sucks cause I lose my progress in photoshop I don't know if anyone can help me on here but I figured it's worth a try. I would appreciate any help!

Latest version of Photoshop tells me that my NVIDIA GeForce MX250 is out of date. When I click on the "Update Drivers" link this is the message I see on the update page for my driver.

"Although GeForce Game Ready Drivers and NVIDIA Studio Drivers can be installed on supported notebook GPUs, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides certified drivers for your specific notebook on their website. NVIDIA recommends that you check with your notebook OEM for recommended software updates for your notebook."

There are no updates for this driver for my laptop, so now what? Clearly there is a newer version but the laptop manufacturer isn't recommending it. So should I update anyway?

I wouldn't even consider it if there were no issues in Photoshop but when I try to use the enhance feature in camera raw it doesn't work and an error appears.

Any advice on whether to update anyway? My last update for the driver is from early 2022.

Thanks

I see the new update and I see there is no Studio Ready drivers. My concern was the big warning..

After much research it looks like it will be some time (if ever) that the latest driver is available through my laptop manufactuer site,

Tomorrow I will use the update on the Nividia site and hope it solves my issues in photoshop, camera raw and lightroom. For the most part they all work great but I run into problems when I try to use enhance or neural filers, etc. Next time I shop for a computer I will be sure that it has a studio ready processor. I didn't know about this issue when I bought my current machine.
