If you use Outlook.com to access an account that uses a domain other than @live.com, @hotmail.com, or @outlook.com, you might not be able to sync your accounts using IMAP. To resolve this, remove the connected IMAP account in Outlook.com and reconfigure it as a POP connection. For instructions about how to reconfigure your account to use POP, contact your email account provider.

I can successfully ping "smtp-mail.outlook.com" from my XG box or from within the LAN.

SMTP notifications work fine with other services I use in my LAN, including an SMTP testing tool.

We've tested this with our internal Office365 and with external outlook.com adresses - both get flagged by Microsoft as Phishing. Even emails from HubSpot their support, product/blog updates are being flagged as Phishing. I think there must be a problem of IP reputation between Microsoft & HubSpot or a problem with Microsoft anti-virus/phishing detection algorithms...

You can get your own account at Outlook.com, with a new @outlook.com email address. Users of Hotmail will also benefit from Outlook.com's features: They can simply log in at Outlook.com to get the new interface, and if they don't, they'll be updated automatically by summer 2013.
