Actually, I just wanted to get rid of "Google Search" from my start screen, which shouldn't work. In short, tried a few launchers and came across this one. Great! In fairness I will buy the Pro Verson...

Nova Launcher will present a pop-up during the initial setup process asking you to set it as the default launcher. However, if you accidentally switch to another launcher, you can head to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Home app and select Nova7.

The ability to make a phone look precisely how you want has spawned an entire wave of utilities and launchers. Nova Launcher is one such app that lets you get a near-stock look. But it also has a feature set that could shame the most robust stock launchers.

As the name suggests, Nova Launcher is a third-party replacement home screen launcher. The app replaces your stock home screen and allows for various gestures, icon packs, and granular customization that go beyond the default feature set.

Recently, Nova Launcher was acquired by the analytics firm, Branch. The acquisition will allow Nova Launcher to gain deep insights into how users use the app. These analytics can then be used to roll out experimental features to users. Nova claims that the additional data gathering will be opt-in. However, some users might be dissuaded by the addition of deep analytics in the launcher.

Over the years, many features from Nova Launcher have been cribbed by competing options, but the launcher still has some tricks up its sleeve. As a long-time Nova Launcher user, the most noticeable improvement while using it is the sheer speed advantage it often offers over OEM skins. The home screen replacement is extremely well-optimized and will let you adjust animation speeds or even remove them altogether to make the user experience as flashy or as fast as you want.

I love the swipe down gesture in nova launcher to pull down the notification panel, however i can only get it to bring down the stock samsung panel not the Material Notification Shade panel. the MNS panel pulls down in any other scenario; Lock screen, in an app, if i pull down from the status bar. It's JUST the swipe down feature where the MNS doesn't pull down.

Some of my gripes are the confusing gesture options. The piss-poor adaptive incon masking. The convoluted settings menu in general...that doesn't remember your last place for some reason. Other launchers just seem more...polished?

I contacted the developers of nova launcher suggesting they implement tasker integration and they responded that it is already implemented which is really confusing to me considering that i am not new to tasker or to nova launcher but never knew about that.

Edit: what i used as an example in my initial email (not visible in the picture) was the ability to edit the settings of nova launcher through tasker. And from what i can see, there is no such option, and according to google, the only workaround would be to backup different settings and then restore them and even then, you would need to confirm with autoinput or manually.

Maybe you try the beta program. I guess Nova is just not marked to be A13 ready. The last regular update is from 2021. So it might just be necessary to find a new replacement for the launcher. This is really sad as I use it from day one on Android (back then I had a Samsung Galaxy S)

Your other problem is quite weird. Since lots of fairphone owners had no problem installing nova launcher, the problem might be with you specific. Some apps can be region locked, I doubt nova launcher would be, but might be a possibility.

In some post on Reddit it seems like MIUI 14 update is making Nova Launcher crash (basically not working anymore). Anyone with a Redmi note 10 pro like me can confirm (or not) that nova laucher is still working after MIUI 14 update? Otherwise I will not update my phone anymore.

Can someone explain why people use nova launcher over the stock ui? What are the main advantages of using a launcher, does it save battery? Make the phone faster? or is it because it has features which the stock ui doesn't?

After the news of the merge, I think that I can't trust Nova, as a launcher collects too much of our information and I would hate to have it analysed for someone's profit. I have had Nova prime for a few years and got used to it

not sure if this will be possible with just nova launcher, as you need more than just root permissions for nova to access the lockscreen so it can persist to allow double tap to wake. i know some kernels can though

Hi, i've just bought an Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. I downloaded the free version of Nova Launcher but i have a problem: when i wanna scroll up to open the apps menu i gotta press the screen much harder than with the default launcher. Its less smooth and confortable. Is me the only one having this issue? Will it be fixed if i buy prime?

Nova Launcher is a speedy app launcher (which means it modifies the basic interface of your phone or tablet somewhat, changing the user interface you use to browse and launch apps in the process).

The only potential problem the launcher faces is that when starting your phone or tablet, it will generally take two or three seconds longer than the default launcher to display your icons and allow you to launch apps. This is not a large increase, but it is noticeable. Fortunately, as previously discussed, the launcher is very fast outside of booting (which a phone at least will not do often).

Overall, Nova Launcher only provides a handful of features, but all are welcome and none overstay that welcome. It's as fast if not faster than the default launcher and many other launchers besides, provides functionality that feels natural like infinite scrolling, and it has widgets, if you find yourself wanting more functionality.

With network access disabled It cant use webview.

It could potentially use IPC (Inter Process Communication) to talk to other apps. But that app has to know to "listen" for nova IPC. It could theoretically also talk to Google Play (if installed and present).

I recall being able to import my icons, my widgets, and most of my settings from Nova Launcher when I set up MS launcher on my old LG phone. Unfortunately MS Launcher was not stable on LG and I had to go back to Nova. Now that I have a new Samsung S20 FE 5g I decided to try MS launcher again, since the widget drawer is great for my productivity. Unfortunately, I do not see the option to import settings from Nova, just from the stock Samsung launcher. And my home screen is both complex and exactly as I like it. Is it no longer possible to import data from other 3rd party launchers? Or is it a restriction put in place by Samsung, or am I missing something?

I recently set up nova launcher prime and installed an icon pack as well. I noticed I lose my upper most notification tab. This is the tab that reads the battery percentage and time on the top right corner and shows the status if your Bluetooth and alarm and sound is on, as well as your data signal and other pertinent info. How do I get it back? Thanks!

In your display settings check to see if your status bar settings got turned off.

Drag down on your Home screen, you will see a gear icon. Tap on it then go to display then to status bar. Make sure all toggles are on.

That nova prime launcher may have turned them off.

I went on the internet and did a little reading about your Nova Prime Launcher.

When you installed it your status bar was eliminated!

If you want that status bar back you will have to uninstall the launcher.

And if it dose not reappear then a Factory Reset will probably bring it back!

Current version of Nova launcher, under look and fill, at the bottom there is an area for notification bar, make sure that dark icons is turned off if you have a dark background and turned on if you have a light background.

There is NOT an option to hide the status bar.

There are a number of custom launchers for Android that I recommend you check out at least once. A few that come to mind include Nova Launcher, Smart Launcher 2, GO Launcher EX, Apex Launcher, and ADW.Launcher.

In addition to changing icons, a custom launcher lets users tweak nearly every aspect of the interface. Whether it's adjusting screen and menu transitions or increasing the number of rows and columns, it's but a setting away. Other things that can be done with launcher apps include gesture navigation, shortcuts, app docks, and 3D effects.

Even more settings

Once you've got a new icon pack installed on your smartphone, you should definitely play around with other launcher settings. Make icons larger, add more rows to the home screen, and adjust the transition when you swipe among home screens. Custom launchers can be a lot of fun and require little know-how. ff782bc1db
