"No Love" was written by Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Just Blaze, the latter producing the track. It was recorded by Mike Strange and Ryan West in Effigy Studios in Ferndale, Michigan. The song was mixed by Eminem, Strange, West, and Just Blaze and was engineered by Joe Strange.[1] The song samples "What Is Love" by Trinidian-German singer Haddaway during the chorus, as well as sampling a sped up chord progression from the song in Eminem's parts.[2] When the song begins, there is a thirty-second intro and the sampled words "no love" echo.[3][4] On August 28, 2010, Billboard reported that "No Love" would be the third single from Recovery.[5] The song impacted radio on October 5, 2010 and was released as the third single from Recovery.[6] The full song is five minutes long.[7]
"I remembered that I had the idea with the Haddaway sample in my computer, so I threw on the headphones, touched it up, and played it for him. At first, he didn't get it hundred percent. I think he wasn't sure what I was going for because it's such a comic sample. But once I broke down the idea to him, another angle: 'I don't need you no more, don't want to see you no more, you get no love.' Then it clicked."[9]

"'No Love' (feat. Lil' Wayne) is an instant hip-hop darling, first because this is a collaboration between two of the hottest MCs in the game, and second because it's a solid piece. It samples Haddaway's 'What Is Love', more commonly known as the song that Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan loved to bob their heads to on SNL, and seamlessly uses the sample and the chorus to produce an extremely impressive and highly listenable piece."[16]
[Lil' Wayne]
Throw dirt on me and grow a wildflower
But it's fuck the world, get a child out her
Yeah, my life a bitch, but you know nothing 'bout her
Been to hell and back, I can show you vouchers
I'm rolling Sweets, I'm smoking sour
Married to the game, but she broke her vows
That's why my bars are full of broken bottles
And my night stands are full of open Bibles
I think about more than I forget
But I don't go around fire expecting not to sweat
And these niggas know I lay them down, make their bed
Bitches try to kick me while I'm down: I'll break your leg
Money outweighing problems on the triple beam
I'm sticking to the script, you niggas skipping scenes
Huh, be good or be good at it
Fucking right, I've got my gun, semi-Cartermatic
Yeah, put a dick in their mouth, so I guess it's fuck what they say
I'm high as a bitch: Up, up and away
Man, I come down in a couple of days
Okay, you want me up in the cage, then I'll come out in beast mode
I got this world stuck in the safe, combination is the G-code
It's Weezy, motherfucker, blood gang and I'm in bleed mode
All about my dough, but I don't even check the peephole
So you can keep knocking, but won't knock me down
No love lost, no love found
[Eminem]
I'm alive again
More alive than I have been in my whole entire life
I can see these people's ears perk up as I begin
To spaz with the pen, I'm a little bit sicker than most
Shit's finna get thick again
They say the competition is stiff
But I get a hard dick from this shit, now stick it in
I ain't never giving in again
Cuss into the wind, complete freedom
Look at these rappers, how I treat them
So why the fuck would I join them when I beat them
They call me a freak because
I like to spit on these pussies 'fore I eat them
Man get these whack cocksuckers off stage
Where the fuck is Kanye when you need him?
Snatch the mic from him, bitch, I'ma let you finish in a minute
Yeah, the rap is tight
But I'm fucking with the greatest verse of all time
So you might want to go back to the lab tonight and um
Scribble out them rhymes you were going to spit
And start over from scratch and write new ones
But I'm afraid that it ain't gonna make no difference
When I rip this stage and tear it in half tonight
It's an adrenaline rush to feel the bass thump
In the place all the way to the parking lot, fellow
Set fire to the mic and ignite the crowd
You can see the sparks from hot metal
Cold-hearted from the day I Bogarted the game
I so started to rock fellow
When I'm not even in my harshest
You can still get roasted because Marsh is not mellow
Till I'm toppling from the top I'm not going to stop
I'm standing on my Monopoly board
That means I'm on top of my game and it don't stop
Till my hip don't hop anymore
When you so good that you can't say it
Because it ain't even cool for you to sound cocky anymore
People just get sick 'cause you spit
These fools can't drool or dribble a drop anymore
And you can never break my stride
You never slow the momentum at any moment I'm about to blow
You'll never take my pride
Killing the flow, slow venom and the opponent
Is getting no mercy, mark my words
Ain't letting up, relentless
I smell blood, I don't give a fuck: Keep giving them hell
Where was you when I fell and needed help up?
You get no love
When our young protagonist winds up back in the star's hotel room, where the star suggests they become "secret lovers," he (the fan) ponders aloud why he (the star) is known for being homophobic. Again, the Neil and Chris are suggesting that it's part of the image; gay musicians often hide their true selves and sometimes even adopt a homophobic stance in order to advance their career. Surely the Pet Shop Boys aren't condoning such hypocrisy, but they recognize it as a fact and are here attempting to describe and perhaps explain it.
In terms of the lyrics, Neil does a terrific job of adopting the voice of an 18-year-old; the language he uses is unsophisticated and colloquial, and his viewpoint is rather naive. (He doesn't seem very disturbed at having fallen in love with someone whom he'll almost certainly never see again, at least not in such an intimate context.) He even manages to modify his singing style in such a way that he doesn't sound so much like himself, but rather like the character he portrays.
Well...you know how that saying goes. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer? That's what Eminem did. He did an Encore of Drake's Forever, and forever put lil wayne to shame, while grabbing the mic from Kayne, and sent him home, without a pen to his pad---jaws wide open, gag ball and all. Kayne is a plucked chicken.
Seriously, i think lil wayne is a joker, and needs to re-evaluate his style. It was cool with the Carter III, because it was "new/edgy" and took the world by storm, but now its repetitive, banal, and done. Lil Wayne sounds like his talking, there is no real delivery...like his technique is Juvenile compared to Em's. When Wayne speeds up his vocal delivery, it sounds like the start of Em's part.
i mostly agree with you, i think he secretly is showing them up on their own tracks or at least i like to pretend he is but he's respectful enough not to battle rap straight out as explained in "talkin' 2 myself." this may be part of the reason that it is not violent. there are a lot of lyrics interpreted as dissing lil wayne which may or may not be true (probably not if eminem is complimenting him and trying not to fight with people) but could easily be eminem showing him up ever so slyly. i think the VMA's reference is more of a reference than a diss towards kanye.
what are you talking about? he clearly respects lil wayne, t.i, and kanye. he's not dissing them, he's just making a reference to the vma's to make a metaphor not a subliminal diss. eminem always strayed away from doing what the other rapper do. he name names when he diss he doesnt take sublime shots
This song isn't a dis on lil Wayne it's weezy and em rapping about how all of the people in their past that showed them no respect (love) can kiss their ass because theyre on top of their game and now all the people that doubted them won't ever know the success they both have
Eminem continues his verse in true Slim Shady fashion. Not only does he tear his unfaithful lover down, he also manages to pay homage to several rappers like Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, Jay Z, Kanye West, Raekwon and Kwame. "Used to be my fianc, until you sucked on Wayne, Andre and Kanye/ LeBron, Akon, Jay, Lil' Jon, Raekwon, Ma$e, Polow Da Don, Drake, Dante Ross, James Conway, Kwame," he spits rattling off a list of male suitors.
On top of pushing a central narrative, they also have a friendly lyrical joust as they try to outdo each other with complex and witty rhymes. To close, Eminem ends the third verse contemplating numerous ways to murder the cause of his heartbreak. He dreams of a high-speed highway chase and off-ramp burial, as well throwing her off of an 11-story building. "I have infinite hate in my blood, it's mainly because of the game of [love]," he concludes. 0852c4b9a8
