3. It wants me to select a .vmx file but the only .vmx file that is available is VMware virtual machine configuration file. This is only a small file. The big file is a .vmdk file and I would suspect that THIS is the file I would want to browse to in the converter tool but I'm not sure?

Although the vitual that I was trying to convert was listed as "Powered Down" in VMware Player it was not shutdown correctly. When I turned on the virtual machine there was a windows message on the server saying that it was not shutdown correctly. I let it boot up and then shut it down again. Once I did that and went back to the converter tool, I was able to get by that error message. I'm still trying to get it to convert so I'll let you all know how it goes.

The big 'however' is that the CD player may have a poor transport that generates a high error rate and there may also be significant levels of clock jitter, which will degrade the signal, specifically affecting the noise floor and stereo imaging. Nevertheless, I'd be very surprised if the better converters didn't bring about some audible improvement.

Being practical, however, unless you already have the converters or are buying them primarily for some other purpose, it probably isn't worth buying anything too fancy to hang on the end of an indifferent CD player. A pragmatically chosen mid-price converter might sound just as good, or you could consider a professional-grade CD player or player/recorder.

Pinch wheels can often be successfully rejuvenated by cleaning with isopropyl alcohol, though take care to avoid spilling on plastic parts.

Drive belts can often be replaced if you can find somewhere that repairs cassette decks (it can be quite a tricky job in some cases).

Buying a second hand refurbished cassette player locally (so that you have some guarantee) may be an option.

I have an old USB cassette player ( looks a bit like an old walkman). I plug it into my Macbook Pro (running Catalina 10.15.3), go into System Preferences/Sound and I select the USB audio device and the Input Level is showing the Mac receiving the audio and it playing through. However I can't hear any audio through my Mac through it's speakers or through my headphones. Everything else works fine (playing any other music in Spotify, Itunes, Youtube). I open Audacity and there's no signal or any music playing through that either. So weird, I can see the signal that goes up and down with the music (on my Macbook) but can't hear any sound.

Focussing more on your device, is there any software that may have come with the player that may need to be installed? For instance, any drivers or plug-ins that might be missing? You might look on the device's web page if nothing was in the box.

If you receive an email with a link to a Webex recording, just click on the link to watch it. There's no player required. Or if you've downloaded a file, get the Webex Player below (file types are .ARF or .WRF) for your operating system.

I've been a Format Factory user for over a year now but the latest version has some major bugs and I'm trying to find a replacement now I know about AnyVideoConverter and I see the latest version has fixed/improved a lot of the issues it had about a two years ago, so then came across Freemake and it looks really promising and I would like to try Freemake video converter but I read some reviews on Cnet that claims it installs adware against your consent, so I looked into this a little further and sure enough some of the reviews on Web Of Trust mentioned this as well then I decided to upload the Freemake installer to Virustotal and here's what it had to say:

Also I would like try the Miro player but I've heard that it has some security issues namely when viewing/streaming web videos, because apparently there's no script blocking options available plus it suppose be a little bit of a resource hog.

Yeah I agree VLC FTW But I guess if someone wants to filter/block adscripts and trackers they could use Spotflux Premium I've been using the free Android version for a while now and it works very well just no adblocking or other filters, and then there's 'Disocnnect' for Kids and while it's not available for desktop yet much like Spoflux it offers a high speed VPN with some script blocking features which could help prevent malware from infesting your system. Here's a link to Disconnect Oh and if you want almost a %100 guarantee then use a good sandbox program when viewing web content in media players like Sandboxie nothings getting through that. Right on CWB OpenSouce is fantastic, and its primarily community powered much like this forum not to mention "typically" full of friendly people as well.

To convert an audio file in FLAC format to an MP3 file on my Windows computer. I have tried several online converters, but they do not work or the audio quality is poor. I need software that will convert the file while maintaining the quality of the original audio.

And I am not familiar with any programs that can do this. I am hoping to receive recommendations and advice on the best software that can convert FLAC to MP3 on my Windows computer, so I can complete this task accurately and without losing the quality of the original audio. Thank you for any help you can provide.

1. Using a dedicated audio converter software:

- Freemake Audio Converter: This is a user-friendly software that supports FLAC to MP3 conversion. It allows you to select the output quality and customize other settings.

2. Using an online FLAC to MP3 converter:

- CloudConvert: This is a popular online file conversion service that supports FLAC to MP3 conversion. You can upload your FLAC files, select the output format, and download the converted MP3 files.

3. Using a media player with built-in conversion:

- VLC Media Player: This widely-used media player can also convert audio files. Simply open VLC, go to Media > Convert/Save, select your FLAC file, choose the output format as MP3, and start the conversion process.

Oh, I totally feel you on the FLAC to MP3 struggle! I went through a bunch of those online converters too and ended up more frustrated than when I started. What finally worked for me was this neat software called Audacity. It's free, and while it looks a bit techy at first glance, it's pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.

Digital to analog converters (DACs) and network players (streamers) optimally transform digital audio files from a computer, music service or online radio. The majority of models can be controlled remotely via a mobile application, iOS or Android. Most of them offer complete control of a MOON system.

The MOON 390 is multi-function crossover type product that has the function of a modern network player (MiND 2), DAC, preamplifier, headphone amplifier, and phono stage. In other words, it provides the performance you want with the flexibility you need!

It is unlikely that the converter damaged the Roku. Possible, certainly. But unlikely. The only way to test it would be to connect a different HDMI device into the converter and see if it works. However, if the converter is defective, you run the risk of damaging the second device as well.

My suggestion would be to first try a new HDMI to analog converter, and use something other than the Roku to test it. Since the Roku didn't work when you tested it on a different TV, it likely does have issues.

The Express 3930 is now a 3 year old design, and Roku is offering far better players for a good price. The Roku Streaming Stick 4K is currently on sale for $25, and would run circles around your old Express. I never recommend the basic Express, as it's simply not much more money for a much better player.

There's no reason that your Express only lasted two years. Sometimes it's just something that happens. I have an old 2 XS that is now about 10 years old. It still works, but it's buried in the bottom of a drawer simply because it doesn't have the power to run the latest apps. In fact, I shelved it about 6 years ago because it was miserable trying to watch YouTube on it. Not the fault of Roku. The channel develop (in this case Google) simply made their channel require a more powerful player. My oldest player still in use is a Roku 4 that my granddaughter still uses. That one is now over 7 years old, but it has enough power to still be useful.

Unfortunately, the consumer electronics world continues to require more powerful equipment to keep up with the developers of the programs that run on them. Look at computers. My first Windows 3.1 computer had only 4 MB of RAM and a 120 MB hard drive. When Windows 95 was released, I immediately had to add another 4 MB of RAM, because it simply was unusable with only 4 MB. It's the same with Roku, Fire TV, or any other streaming player. They improve the hardware, the software also improves, requiring new hardware again. It's a cycle.

I spoke with Avigilon tech support, and they basically said that you could export the footage directly to .AVI instead of .AVE (which you already knew), and that their standalone media player can export .AVE footage to .AVI, but not to .mp4.

In my opinion, why do any of this. You can provide everyone the Stand-Alone (non installation player) that runs on machines that are domain locked down in police departments and other businesses, it's free, and it provides all of the features of the VMS client. Pixel, Bookmark searches, multi-camera, and NLE exports accross cameras, and maintaining authenticity. the original exporter can determine just what is being exported, the quality, the size etc....

adding another layer of complexity seems to be adding another layer of support. We have some clients that regularly (weekly) provide incident video (multi-camera) views to a certain government agency, and we've never had that agency mention any issue in 5 years or more. 0852c4b9a8
