Bengaluru: A pub manager has alleged that two people allegedly assaulted him for playing Kannada songs on October 24.
The complainant, identified as Ravikanth, a manager in a pub on Kenchenahalli main road in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, said he was assaulted by a few customers including one Shreyas, for playing Kannada songs in the pub.
Ravikanth told police that Shreyas abused him for playing Kannada songs. After that a woman who was with Shreyas also assaulted him.
Ravikanth registered a complaint with Rajarajeshwari Nagar police, who registered an FIR under IPC sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

Events held in various parts of the state saw around five lakh singers singing iconic Kannada songs penned by three poets at 1,000 locations, according to Karnataka Minister of Kannada and Culture S Sunil Kumar. Ministers, elected representatives, IAS, IPS and UPSC officials also took part in the mass rendition of Kannada songs.
The Department of Kannada and Culture organised the musical feat in coordination with all 31 district administrations in the state ahead of the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations on November 1 to mark the unification of all Kannada speaking regions.
As part of the week-long event, the Department of Kannada and Culture will organise an event that will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra of Bengaluru from October 29 to 31 which will include a book exhibition, food, art and sculpture melas and cultural programmes.
Kailash Kher was performing at Hampi Utsav when the two youths threw water bottles at him for not singing Kannada songs, said the police, who identified the arrested Saddam Hussain, 23, a driver and Krishnappa, 22, a painter.
The duo initially shouted urging Kher to sing Kannada songs and after a while, they threw bottles filled with water at the stage. A viral video shows the water bottles falling near Kher and the staff removing those from the stage.
Based on a complaint filed by a Kannada and Culture Department official, the Hampi tourism police arrested the accused and filed a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person, otherwise than on grave provocation), 505 (1) (b) (intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public) and handed them over to judicial custody.
The police said both of them were under the influence of alcohol and there was enough police security. As soon as they threw bottles, they were held by the police. The accused told the police they were disappointed that Kher did not sing Kannada songs.
