I use Windows 10 at work, and even though I work in several linux environments at work and use linux at home, Windows has been doing some great things lately. I've switched completely from using Cmder to Windows Terminal. One thing I dislike is that it doesn't come with icons for the user to use when building profiles. You can see such discussion below, and push back from an actual MS employee below which was voted down to oblivion.

I'm developing a C++ app in Visual Studio 2022 with a UI (UI library is wxWidgets). I'm trying to figure out how icons work. I gathered from researching that Windows expects a variety of different icons to be packaged with apps for the best UX (see Which icon sizes should my Windows application's icon include?). However I can't seem to find a way to get multiple icons taken into account.

Now, when I package an app and add it to Server 2019 using Add-AppPackage, there are no errors everything seems fine and the package is visible in the WindowsApps folder however, the application icon is not visible and thus the application cannot be launched. When you go into the control panel the app is actually visible and can be uninstalled.

I am aware you can specify a remote machine with the packaging tool, but I would assume I can just package for Windows 10 Enterprise and it would work on Server 2019, and I don't need different packages for each OS?

When creating the package with the the packaging tool, is your application listed in the First launch tasks page? The applications listed there are the ones that will be used as entry points for the package, i.e. the ones you will see as icons. If the application does not show up in the First launch tasks initially, you may need to add it using the Browse button.

Another way to verify this without packaging your application again is to check the package manifest. The application icons you see correspond to elements in the manifest. Is the application you expect listed there? If it is, does it have the attribute AppListEntry="none" that would hide it?

Is there any other details you could share about your app for us to investigate what is happening, either here or through Feedback Hub? For example what app are you packaging, the packaging tool's conversion logs or the package manifest.

During the monitored installation phase of the MSIX Packaging Tool workflow, the MSIX Packaging Tool will capture any changes that you make to files or folders for your application. If you change your assets during the monitoring, those changes will be captured in your final package.

To modify your app package assets after you create your MSIX package, open your MSIX package in Package editor, and then open the Package files page. You can delete existing assets or add new icons or assets.

I am using Windows XP. I am tired of looking at the folder icons in Windows XP. I changed the color depth to 256 colors and the folder icons in Windows Explorer changed to the flat - windows 95/98 style icons. I loved them!

There is no way to tell Windows Explorer to show the old flat-style icons. The reason for this is that the icons are all packaged together, and will use the highest bit-depth available (see this article for more details).

These color graphics will fit any desktop, web application, or mobile app screen. In addition to Cute Color, Hand Drawn Color, and Color icon packs, Windows 10 Color icons effectively work as clipart for infographics, custom cards, or presentations.

The MATS package determines whether or not the Max Cached Icons registry value in the registry subkeys exists. If the Max Cached Icons registry value does not exist, create it, and then set it to 2048. If the Max Cached Icons registry value exists, set it to 2048.

Note During this process, a dialog box appears. This gives you the option to fix the issue automatically (this is the recommended option) or to manually select individual issues to fix. If you manually select individual issues to fix, you must select the Icon and folder customizations or Others or I don't know option in the dialog box.

Unfortunately there don't seem to be a lot of resources out there for how to actually create proper Mac and Windows (and Linux) icons for the final build. It took me a while to figure out, but eventually I got it.

Elevate your React Native applications with the power of customizable vector icons. Ideal for embellishing buttons, logos, and navigation or tab bars, these icons seamlessly integrate into your projects. Their versatility makes extension and styling effortless.

Browse to the node_modules/react-native-vector-icons folder and drag the Fonts folder into your project in Xcode. Ensure that your app is checked under "Add to targets," and select "Create folder references" when prompted.

a. Right-click the Assets folder in your solution.b. Select Add > Existing Item.c. Browse and select the fonts that you copied into /windows/project-name/assets.d. Click Add.

Upgrading this package often requires the font files linked to your projects to be updated as well. If the automatic linking works for you, running this again should update the fonts. Otherwise you need to follow the steps outlined in the installation section.

Both npm and android file hierarchies tend to get very deep and even worse when you combine them. Since Windows file system has a max length, long file name addresses will result in numerous errors including Execution failed for task ':react-native-vector-icons:processReleaseResources'. So try to keep the path to your project folder as short as possible.

Add your Flutter Launcher Icons configuration to your pubspec.yaml or create a new config file called flutter_launcher_icons.yaml.An example is shown below. More complex examples can be found in the example projects.

In the above configuration, the package is setup to replace the existing launcher icons in both the Android and iOS projectwith the icon located in the image path specified above and given the name "launcher_icon" in the Android project and "Example-Icon" in the iOS project.

The IJ Scan Utility is needed in order to scan photos and documents from your scanner to your computer. This is included in the MP Drivers package or Driver Setup Package (depending on your model) and may have been installed when you first set up the printer.

If you find you want more unique icons such as shapes or ones you create yourself the process is the same. I would recommend creating a 'Misc Icons' folder within the AHK directory or within the 'Letter Icon' folder. As long as your file path is correct (and the filename is as well) you can use any .ico file as an icon for your scripts.

Note: Windows default icons are not necessarily accessible for this purpose(search the help file for 'icon' and read the section relating to A_IconNumber / A_IconFile. You just have to know which number is the icon you want to use!). Download an icon pack with your desired icon and follow the above instructions to use that.
