I'm about to finish a new PC build and am debating whether I should go windows 11 or not. My gut says it'll be fine but I know 11 used to be really buggy for a lot of people and wasn't supported by a lot of games/sims. I figure it's probably fine at this point but just wanted to see if there were any strong opinions one way or the other about W11.

I want to use the windows.gaming.input to connect my Thrustmaster T300 with Force-Feedback. Some background information: I have to read all data (steering angle, buttons, ...) from the steering wheel and simply display them in a command prompt. If this works, I would like to add the functionality to send the wheel a desired moment (force feedback) and duration. I'm not really deep into C++ (have little experience with it). I read some articles about how to read the wheel and chose the UWP (Universal Windows Program) with its windows.gaming.input API over DirctInput or InputX.

I have an Xbox 360 wireless racing wheel connected to my windows 10 PC by the Microsoft dongle. I confirmed the wheel is working with windows in the devices & printers menu. Going into properties I am able to fully calibrate my wheel, IE every button is working. However when I boot up Forza 7 and try to set up keybindings for a custom wheel the only buttons that are recognized as inputs are the start and back buttons, and the d-pad. Any help here would be much appreciated.

I am not 100% sure (and I doubt it as this was deprecated in 1995) but I wonder if the 360 wheels use DirectInput for input rather than the newer XInput. If that is the case it explains why it does not show up in modern games but works fine in windows itself.

The Core P6 TG Racing Green features three 4mm thick tempered glass panels which are designed to meet the highest standards in the industry. The enlarged glass windows permit users to fully display their RGB components in the system, and show off their dedication and skill sets.

The company has created VSM and several other racing solutions under its global brand AVL RACING. In the highly dynamic and competitive racing environment, innovation is highly prized. Customized projects range from simulation inquiries, to realistic test procedures and support directly at the racetrack. This means that AVL RACING is involved throughout the customer development cycle in its role as an integrated and neutral partner. The experience gained is also be used for developing future mobility solutions.

When it comes to executing its solutions, AVL places their trust in Microsoft as a strong and safe cloud partner. Since VSM has been running on Microsoft Azure Cloud, it has been able to offer its customers even more simulations in an even shorter time span. This unbelievable computing power combined with the HP of the racing car makes an unbeatable team.

Speed is essential not only on the racetrack. Between practice sessions, there is little time for adjusting screws. Better results on the racetrack can also be achieved by making changes in driving style, the vehicle or the strategy. Possibilities multiply depending on how the parameters are combined and engineers have very little time to decide which modifications to make on the racing car.

How fast can the vehicle corner when the (simulation) driver does everything right? How do the tyres respond to changed conditions, for instance, when there is rain on the racetrack? Many factors come into play in racing. With VSM, the entire vehicle, including the driver and the racetrack, are simulated and analyzed in real time.

ETW stands for Event Tracing for Windows- and as its name suggests it collects a lot of logs and events during the kernel execution. The design is a Providers that can generate event logs and Consumers that listen to events emitted by Providers. These logs can be inspected by system admin for the purpose of technical OS problems or security-related issues. You can read more about ETW design here (1) and here (2).

When reversing the EtwpUpdateFilterData() function you can easily see that if you pass FilterCount=0 then the current filters will be freed. Additional option is to update a filter but it is not interesting. There is a total of 12 filters you can free so the critical question now is whether this flow is protected by a "lock". Why? because if this current flow can free a filter and no locks are taken so you can cause a Use-After-Free by racing another flow which "uses" this filter. So you basically get one flow freeing a filter and another flow using this filter.

For the purpose of spraying controlled data you can use WNF objects which have full control of the data except for the first 0x10 bytes. The challenge here is how to place the fake data exactlly after the "deep copy" buffer - windows kernel heap allocator for this allocation sizes has full randomization when allocating 0x100 chunks so techniques such as making holes for allocations will fail. You can read Saar Amar overview of LFH here (5).

Conclusion

The first vulnerability is a Use-After-Free caused by a tight race condition when on one hand the Filter is freed and on the other hand it is used. The freeing flow uses an exclusive lock but the other flows using this filter make poor job on locking the Filter. It seems like when adding this specific filter to the code the programmer misunderstood how it should be done correctly and that is quite understandable because the other filters use strange synchronization.

The second vulnerability is a double fetch race that gives you the ability to free arbitrary objects. The code relies on that the user space input buffer remains without any changes during the execution of the function. This bug is very powerful and might be exploited in different ways.

At the first bug, I shared my approach to the research and how I managed to identify the different flows that need to be researched. Hope it will help other researchers to research and publish their write-ups about windows kernel bugs.

Id argue that Radeon gpus are slightly worse when it comes to software than Nvidia. But this really only appears in certain apps that only support nvidia cuda. in things like gaming they normally perform way better for the same value. for example the rx 6800 is slightly less expensive than the 3070 yet beats it in pretty much every game in 1440p except when ray tracing. ray tracing happens to be one of those certain things that nvidia beats radeon gpus at.

GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience for Windows 10 is a fast and furious racing game that gives players the chance to put more than sixty different cars through their paces on thirteen different tracks. The game picks up where GT Racing left off and provides more engaging racing action than ever before as well as the chance for players to customise their mean machine.

Players will soon discover that the racing action of GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience for Windows 10 is very smooth, while the large number of tracks provides plenty of variation to the game. the tracks also feature scenarios that take place at different times of the day, while the randomly generated weather conditions add even more variation as well as plenty of challenges.

Anyone who enjoys racing games is sure to have a lot of fun playing GT Racing 2: The Real Car Experience for Windows 10. However, it should be noted that players are often prompted to make in game purchases such as upgrading various aspects of their car and people who do not want to pay out for upgrades will find themselves lagging behind the competition.

Stock car racing got its start during the days of prohibition. Enterprising bootleggers looking to move their supply of illicit moonshine across state lines found they needed fast cars with modified suspensions to escape the police.

In May 2011, Window World commissioned the construction of The Stinger race car, a modern-day interpretation of the 1911 Marmon Wasp and a tribute to over 100 years of racing. Once completed, John shuttled the car thousands of miles around the country in a quest for the signature of every living Indy 500 veteran. For over four years, The Stinger visited races, museums, and home shows around the country. With each signature collected during its tour, Window World donated $1,890 to Window World Cares, directly benefitting the kids and families of St. Jude.
