I have done some research into this, and have noticed that when the document is view in a newer version, i.e. acrobat version 9 pro extended, in the form properties window, it shows signing: allowed. However in version 8.1.3 it says signing: not allowed.

Adobe uses a public key infrastructure (PKI) to issue digital certificates for use in licensing and feature enablement. Adobe has been issuing certificates under the certificate authority Adobe Root CA, which is set to expire on January 7, 2023. The expiration of certificate does not impact PDF documents extended using production certificates issued from the Adobe Root CA based certificates (old certificates). All PDF documents, Reader extended using the old certificates before January 7, 2023, including the ones downloaded by your customers, would continue to work with all the usage rights that are applied to them, and do not require any updates.

You cannot use either version of the Search plugin to directly obtain the results of a search, for manipulation or for display in an application other than Adobe Acrobat. For information about the methods included in the Search extended API, see the Acrobat and PDF Library API Reference.

The Catalog plugin has an HFT consisting of several methods that plugin developers can import and use. In addition, Catalog supports DDE, and broadcasts several Windows messages. For information about the methods included in the Catalog extended API, see the Acrobat and PDF Library API Reference.

The AcroColor extended API is the only extended API that is not installed as a plugin. It is part of the Acrobat core, but is considered an extended API. The AcroColor APIs, unlike the other extended APIs, can be used by the PDF Library.

The Color Conversion API has been extended in Acrobat 8.0 to include new APIs that enable you to add color conversion operations to your plugin or PDF Library applications. By using this extended API, you can convert a page based on a list of conversion actions. Each conversion action contains a set of matching fields (object attribute or type, color space, rendering intent), what the action should do if an object matches the matching fields, and conversion parameters (rendering intent, black point compensation, and target color space).

The AcroColor extended API contains methods, such as PDDocColorConvertPage, that accept data structure instances as arguments. These data structures consist of a list of action records and a list of inks. Each action record specifies attributes, color spaces, and rendering intent, along with an action. That is, what to do with the particular object if a match is located. The ink list defines ink aliasing or conversion to process for particular named colorants.

Some data structure members require enum values as values. For example, the mAction member, that belongs to the PDColorConvertAction data structure, requires a PDColorConvertActionType value. The following list specifies the data enum values that you use to work with the AcroColor extended API:

I have tried searching online everywhere but cant find any answer at all. i have tried uninstalling and installing different versions of adobe and it still doesnt work. I am currently on adobe version 9.4. Whole message: "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Acrobat. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended feature is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this."

Anyway back on topic. Try and uninstall it then re-install. If it doesn't work contact adobe and tell them your problem; make sure they help you! If it persists sell soul to the devil, or try running it in compatibility mode.

The only other possibility I can think of off hand is that there may be a compatibility issue with Acro's 2 start-up processes, AcroTray and Adobe Acrobat (acrobat_sl.exe) - they are both x86 process so is highly possible. I automatically disable any start processes Acrobat adds as a matter of course via MSConfig (I don't see need to add 30 seconds to my boot time to save a couple of seconds on loading a PDF). Would be more inclined to think it would be the latter process though, as AcroTray remains as a running process after opening a PDF anyhow.

The original imaging model of PDF was opaque, similar to PostScript, where each object drawn on the page completely replaced anything previously marked in the same location. In PDF 1.4 the imaging model was extended to allow transparency. When transparency is used, new objects interact with previously marked objects to produce blending effects. The addition of transparency to PDF was done by means of new extensions that were designed to be ignored in products written to PDF 1.3 and earlier specifications. As a result, files that use a small amount of transparency might be viewed acceptably by older viewers, but files making extensive use of transparency could be viewed incorrectly by an older viewer.

PDF files can contain two types of metadata.[2] The first is the Document Information Dictionary, a set of key/value fields such as author, title, subject, creation and update dates. This is optional and is referenced from an Info key in the trailer of the file. A small set of fields is defined and can be extended with additional text values if required. This method is deprecated in PDF 2.0.

Adobe Reader introduced an extension for the Google Chrome browser for online users. We all know Adobe software, mainly recommended for PDF file formatting, editing, viewing, and saving. In recent days, Adobe extended its online version with Adobe PDF tools and the Adobe Reader extension, specifically for Google Chrome browsers.

Master PDF is my go-to program for editing pdf's. By far the most versatile and complete pdf editor I've found that runs on KDE. The only drawback is that you can't select multiple documents when merging files.

Not open source but free to use on linux. They even gave me a key for the 'other os' version when I reported a bug so I dumped adobe completely.

I use pdflatex to create pdfs. It is a great program and can embed video and insert hyperlinks. My only frustration is that ONLY acrobat can access those links! I believe the issue is support for javascript from the pdf but I am not sure and hope someone will make a Linux alternative eventually. 0852c4b9a8
