Music

I am a singer and brass player, and I spent 2 years as musical director of Rough Edge Brass Band, a student band in Oxford, in which I played the sousaphone (pictured). I also spent 4 years in the bass section of the Choir of St Edmund Hall, having been awarded a Choral Scholarship in 2019. I have played the trumpet, euphonium and tuba in a wide range of ensembles, from symphony orchestras and pit bands to brass quintets and jazz bands, and have sung in choral and a cappella ensembles. I'm proud to be a member of  Great Western Chorus and the British Association of Barbershop Singers. I was honoured to be shortlisted for the Barbershopper of the Year and Young Barbershopper of the Year awards in 2020, and I previously won a scholarship which allowed me to attend Harmony College 2019.

I am a composer and arranger of vocal and instrumental music. I do a lot of a cappella arranging, with particular experience in barbershop, choral and close harmony styles. I also arrange for instrumental groups, working mainly with wind and brass ensembles, including several arrangements for my band Rough Edge. Recently, I have become interested in composing choral music, and was honoured to have my setting of the Nunc Dimittis in F performed multiple times by the Choir of St Edmund Hall, under the direction of James Whitbourn,  including in Pontigny Abbey in France.

During my final year in Oxford, I was the musical director and conductor for 'Fermat's Last Tango', a musical based on Andrew Wiles' famous proof of Fermat's Last Theorem. The show was performed in the Mathematical Institute in Oxford, between the 2nd and 5th of March, and was fully sold out! A recording of the show is available on YouTube..
