FS-BASIC

The FS-BASIC (Later FS-DOS) Engine was developed back in 1979 for the original FREDSERVICES BASIC Computer, and later early versions of the Fred Computer.

FredServices HAWOS

HAWOS, or Home And Work Operating System, was based on FS-BASIC, but included more features, such as the ability to print text. It was the primary operating system of the Fred Computer, and users of the FredServices Basic Computer could upgrade to HAWOS for £30 or $50.

Fred HEXO

HEXO, originally called HExOE, stood for Home Extended Operating Environment, which was again based on FS-BASIC, which was now known as FS-DOS. It was aimed at domestic users and hobbyists, and included FS-EDIT, a program for creating and editing FS-DOS based programs. It was originally command-line based, but HEXO 4.0 came with a graphical user interface called HexoShell.

Fred OS

Fred OS was originally a graphical shell for FS-DOS, which was more advanced than the simpler HexoShell, which was really just a file browser. It implemented more colours, introduced graphical programs, and new applications such as Draw.
